National Grid is hiring a Senior Designer, Drafting and Designing in Hicksville, NY.

Job Purpose

Responsible to prepare electrical physical and/or control wiring designs for modifications and additions to existing electrical power and control systems in Steam Electric and Gas Turbine generating Stations.

Key Accountabilities• Work closely with plant staffs and engineers to establish equipment locations, cable and raceways physical designs, control equipment requirements and control logic to support plant maintenance and operations.• Support the preparation of detailed drawings of electrical physical arrangements, cable raceway systems and control wiring diagrams/schematics in AutoCAD.• Preparation of computerized cable and conduit lists.• Assemble electrical drawing work packages and prepare transmittal letters.• Support the development of design work hour and material estimates.• Familiar with the National Electric Code.• Perform field surveys to support design development and record as-built conditions.• Provide technical support to field installation and commissioning forces and as required at any of the power station sites in the service territory.• Interface with electrical engineers, other engineering disciplines, engineers/designers, plant staffs, National Grid maintenance support departments, and installation Contractors.

Qualifications• 5-10 years of related power plant electrical, controls or equivalent experience.• General knowledge of electrical power systems equipment, controls, instrumentation and wiring design.• Experience inspecting electrical installation work.• Experience working with other engineering design disciplines.• Completed courses in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology. Bachelors or Associate degree in related field preferred. • Proficient with AutoCAD, raster design (CAD overlay), document management systems (such as Metaphase) and use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.• Effective verbal, written, interpersonal and computer skills.• A valid New York State driver's license.

$102,000 - $120,000 a year
