As a Principal Product Manager, you will create the vision and strategy for a portfolio of products, based on an outside-in market point-of-view anchored in the customer. You will mentor Product Owners across multiple dedicated teams and help them define what needs to be built and champion the vision to their product teams and stakeholders. You will convey a clear and compelling narrative and an enthusiasm for relentlessly delivering customer value. You will demonstrate accountable ownership, unmitigated curiosity, a strong desire for continuous improvement, and the ability to think strategically about our products while empowering and leading others to do the same.

Who You Are
Product management is the function that guides every step of a product's lifecycle - by focusing on the product and its customers first and foremost. Product Managers identify the most valuable problems to solve, enable their team to ship and iterate high-quality solutions quickly, and validate market impact. They leverage customer insights to deeply understand their problems, define the correct priorities and create a clear Product brief.

  • Skilled at defining measures to identify user patterns and learn from user data
  • Equally skilled at dreaming (and articulating) big, starting (and articulating) small, and working incrementally to achieve outcomes
  • Experienced and preferred working in a player/coach role in which you regularly sought input from customers and other stakeholders (sales, service, partner teams), defined acceptance criteria, provided product direction to development team members and coached product owners through similar activities
  • Always brings a point-of-view formed by mix of data, experience, and intuition
  • Eager to keep up with current market and technology trends, able to adapt accordingly
  • Demonstrates confidence in successfully interacting at the CEO level; curious enough to ask questions and alter point-of-view appropriately

  • Proactive in communication, gap identification, and risk mitigation
  • During the first six months at Paylocity, you will:
  • Influence and own the product strategy for a new vertical.
  • Identify impactful customer outcomes that span across multiple products, new and existing.
  • Evangelize vision and strategy to executive leadership consistently.
  • Aid in product discovery & strategy for multiple workstreams or missions.
  • Assess build, buy, partner decisions for multiple product categories.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, GTM, Ops, and Corp Dev to deliver on initiatives.


Required Experience

  • Must be able to collaborate with team to encourage and motivate team members to produce and deliver on objectives
  • Must be customer focused and outcome driven
  • Must be data and insights driven
  • Must be focused and able to think strategically and creatively
  • Must be able to lead and guide a product's lifecycle
  • Preferred to have domain expertise in fintech, payments, or spend management.

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $155,346 - $226,747/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
