Come join Intuit's Controllership, Assurance and Operations (CAO) organization as a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Principal Accountant to lead accounting and finance efforts for M&A, including financial due diligence, purchase accounting, opening balance sheet procedures and intangible asset valuations. You'll report to the Director of M&A Accounting and Finance Integration and leverage your deep knowledge of US GAAP and M&A accounting best practices to implement processes and develop playbooks to position our M&A accounting function for scale. When you're not working on transactions, you'll help evaluate and resolve other complex non-M&A accounting issues, improve, or implement accounting policies, or other high impact technical accounting projects.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate and lead across multiple functions and roles to achieve accounting objectives. When issues are identified, the leader will use their strong change management skills and to drive issues through to resolution and subsequent validation with the full transparency of involved stakeholders at all levels within the larger Intuit organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct or manage outside partners through financial due diligence, opening balance sheet audits, intangible asset valuations, finance back-office integration and other M&A accounting workstreams.
  • Evaluate and understand deal terms, employment contracts, and other related agreements, and assess resulting purchase accounting implications.
  • Understand targets' business operations and finance and accounting processes and policies and consider potential financial risk, integration requirements and internal control implications.
  • Identify, research and document complex accounting issues and collaborate with our outside auditors to reach mutual resolution.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with key members of our Corporate Development & Strategy, Legal, Finance, Tax and Accounting Operations teams.
  • Drive continuous improvements, operational excellence and scalability across our M&A accounting and financial integration processes.
  • As needed, you'll also assist with other technical accounting projects including, but not limited to, evaluating, and resolving other complex non-M&A accounting issues, designing, and implementing or evaluating and revising accounting policies, etc.
  • Develops training and outreach programs and delivers this training to business unit and functional team leaders.
