WHAT YOUR ROLE ENTAILS AND HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:The Hallmark Payroll department is responsible for timely and accurate payment of over 20,000 employees in multiple corporations across the United States and Canada. We are responsible for maintaining, processing, and distributing wage payments, supplemental wages, employee deductions and payroll taxes in compliance with Hallmark policies and federal, state, and local laws. We provide related information to employees, internal and external customers, and governmental agencies while ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all aspects of various Hallmark payrolls. This includes preparing and issuing paychecks, calculating payroll-related taxes and deductions, understanding of wage orders, and ensuring that employees are paid on time. The Payroll Specialists may also need to review and respond to questions regarding employee hours, sick leave, and vacation time.

The job duties of a Payroll Specialist include but are not limited to:

  • Calculating employee wages and salaries
  • Withholding taxes and other deductions from paychecks
  • Preparing and distributing paychecks
  • Communicating with employees about their paychecks or statements
  • Communicating with managers regarding time entry
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Complying with all applicable payroll laws and regulations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one-year professional work experience
  • Minimum one year payroll experience
  • Experience with Excel and other Microsoft products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of payroll software programs UKG, Dimensions, and Smartlink
  • Attention to detail, especially regarding payroll transactions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:This is a hybrid role with a mix of both on-site and work-from-home time. The role is based in Hallmark's headquarters in Kansas City, MO.
