Position Description
Zayo is seeking a Contract Network Engineer to be responsible for the installation and activation of IP and Ethernet network infrastructure equipment. The Network Engineer will maintain port capacity supporting our NaaS infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate complex equipment installations by providing detailed Methods-of-Procedure documentation
- Monitor port and backbone capacity using various tools
- Collaborate with multiple teams to effectively plan space & power and connectivity requirements
- Test and verify error free connectivity of new equipment installs
- Certify and document new equipment installs within a set of guidelines
- Work with Data Centers to standardize panels within their portal
- Troubleshoot power and connectivity with field engineers
- Identify implementation roadblocks such as software/hardware incompatibilities
- Deploy and purchase inventory & critical spares within a set budget.
- Create/edit various internal order forms (via salesforce.com)
- Update status and progress in salesforce on a daily and regular basis
- Verify and update project documentation
- Work with internal teams to activate and verify the functionality of the equipment once deployed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 (four) years of experience in the area of IP routing and network engineering
- Familiar with fundamentals of IP routing and switching, including BGP, DNS, IP address management
- Direct and recent experience troubleshooting router connectivity in a complex routed network environment
- Direct and recent experience using a router CLI to provision IP/Ethernet services
- Familiar with fundamentals of provisioning fiber based circuits in a data center environment, including patches, cross-connects, risers, and space and power
- Experience working in a team within a complex and fast-paced environment
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to focus on the salient facts in order to resolve an issue
- Experience organizing multiple, time-sequenced tasks across several concurrent projects
- Experience with Junos, required
- Familiar with Google docs & sheets, email
- Preferred Certification - JNCIA, CCNA, JNCIP, CCNP
Base salary range: $78,500 - $112,100, commensurate with experience.
