The Mobile Automation Engineer Position 

Sunnova Energy is searching for a Mobile Automation Engineer to be responsible for supporting testing efforts for all software changes and will collaborate with an internal team of Project Managers and Developers to complete test planning and execution. Additionally, this role will help establish the mobile test automation framework to be utilized across all enterprise iOS and Android mobile apps


Mobile Automation Engineer Responsibilities 

•Responsible for documenting and executing formal test plans to ensure the delivery of quality products

•Creates, executes, and maintains test plans and test cases; includes functional and non-functional testing, integration, regression, and smoke testing

•Helps to establish the mobile automation testing framework that will be used across multiple mobile apps

•Establishes role as key point of contact for mobile test automation

•Responsible for analyzing manual and automated test scenario results

•Responsible for testing within multiple development environments for projects of moderate to high complexity

•Involved in multiple programs/systems as a project team member and is considered a subject matter expert for both automated and manual testing for mobile apps

•Collaborates with Agile team on project-related requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure test cases align properly with user stories and business needs

•Provides testing estimates for use in setting delivery schedules

•Creates QA artifacts; includes test plan, test strategy, detailed test cases, defect reports, and a final test summary report

•Provides project team(s) with timely feedback and constructive recommendations related to mobile testing

•Escalates and reports risks and problems to appropriate project and quality leadership 

•Facilitates user acceptance testing sessions by demonstrating application functionality 

•Uses test management tool for bug reporting and to build test scripts for individual modules


Minimum Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field

•5+ years software testing experience in Agile 

•3+ years mobile automation experience

•Experience in iOS and Android automated and manual testing

•Must have Appium, Webdriver.io, GraphQL, Kobiton, Perfecto, SauceLabs or experience with other open stack mobile test automation frameworks

•Experience integrating Appium tests into CI/CD pipelines for automated and regular testing

•Worked on Web/UI related to accessibility requirements

•Experience in relational database concepts, structured query language (SQL), integration and API testing

•Significant experience in understanding large-scale application design, integration architecture and strive to automate as many aspects as possible

•Legally authorized to work in the US for ANY employer


Preferred Qualifications

•ISTQB/ASTQB Foundation certification 

•Experience in energy industry (solar, wholesale or retail electricity) 


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Ability to organize and prioritize individual workload to meet required deadlines 

•Ability to work as part of a team in a matrix environment 

•Ability to mentor and coach others 


Working Conditions

•Extended periods of time working at computer workstation 

•Schedule needs are flexible with business needs, occasionally requiring weekend or evening support for software releases
