What you'll do

H&R Block, the world's leader in tax preparation services, is looking for a Lead Product Manager - Platforms to join the Global Consumer Tax DIY Product team. This role is responsible for product strategy and leading teams that translate strategy into tactical execution. Develops, plans, and manages implementation of activities for extremely complex products with very broad scope, high impact, and long implementation time frames. Leads both the technology as well as the business change required, while ensuring that day-to-day operations keep functioning flawlessly during the transition. Consults with product sponsors, participants, stakeholders, and customers to review product proposals including goals, time frames, and funding limitations. Develops and manages product budgets and marketing integration. Manages a product team and is accountable for developing Product Managers through coaching and mentorship.

  • Guide and mentor, a team of product managers to develop strategies, roadmaps, metrics, and backlogs while setting a superior standard for quality and delivery of a customer centric product.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive improvement around the way we work leveraging the principles of Lean, Agile, and DevOps to minimize waste and maximize speed to value.
  • Responsible for supporting, translating, and negotiating company and DIY initiatives into product OKRs with teams.
  • Accountable for ensuring outcomes and key results are accomplished and in line with business and customer needs.
  • Measure team progress, remove roadblocks and identify efficiencies to move fast but effectively towards our goals.
  • Ensure teams are following best practices using appropriate product management processes, tools, and frameworks.
  • Establish strong working relationships to optimize how platform work is identified, resourced, socialized, and tracked; particularly with the following departments: Information Security, IT, Data, and extended partners.
  • Convert the strategy and strategic initiatives into well-developed plans and objectives over different time frames.
  • Engage with senior leadership to provide regular updates on product initiatives and ensure business alignment.
  • Set platform strategy and roadmap balancing both client needs and partner.

Minimum Education / Work Experience Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and work experience.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years of related experience.

What you'll bring to the team

  • Product management experience to include experience leading very large mission critical products that involve significant business and technology change.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience leading products with technical depth - you're familiar with the complexities of API integration, scaling systems, and are motivated by complex technical challenges that underpin product experiences.
  • Experience guiding teams with numerous products at different phases in the product lifecycle.
  • Consultative experience in short-term and long-range strategic planning, budgeting, systems analysis, and design.
  • Energized by opportunities that arise while operating multiple products and you bring a unique combination of technical prowess, empathy, and strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of business case development including cost/benefit analysis, NPV, and state of assessment.
  • Experience with platform governance and operational frameworks within product-led development
  • Strong working knowledge of development tracking tool: JIRA, Azure DevOps, Aha

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
