The role of Data Governance SME is to support the Data Governance team in the formation and execution of a data governance framework, policy, and standards. This position assists in the development and implementation of an enterprise data governance program through discovery, gap analysis, and future state implementation plan.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop control structures within a simple environment to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels.
  • Provide thought leadership and participate in projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes.
  • Ensure controls are in place over applications to ensure data integrity by performing data integrity gap analysis.
  • Coordinate the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the business owners and IT.
  • Work with business partners to interview key stakeholders to gather and understand data governance gaps within the organization.
  • Assisting the data governance organization in continuing to develop current frameworks that can be applied to current and new clients.
  • This role will also assist in the pillars of data governance including data quality, master data management, metadata management, data security, etc.
  • Advisement on how to implement a Data Governance framework/organization and advise on the pillars of Data Governance within a client’s organization.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of databases and data structures. 
  • Intermediate to a high level of Data Governance understanding. 
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of batch data.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of real-time streaming data.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Beginner to Intermediate level proficiency with Data Governance Tools.
  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate facilitation skills with the ability to drive issues to closure.
  • Self-motivated and able to handle tasks with minimal supervision or questions.
  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to collaborate in writing various documents such as current state, future state, and project charters.
  • Foster company success through professionalism, a positive attitude, and the ability to collaborate with team members.

Travel
