Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Junior Scrum Master and Agile Coach to work within an agile product delivery release train. The candidate will support the development team(s) and coach the team members in agile practices. An ideal candidate will be a natural servant leader facilitating impediment identification, removal, escalation as necessary, and act as collaboration member of a larger agile team.

This position has remote flexibility for candidates willing to come onsite to Chantilly, VA quarterly for 3 days during that week (Program Increment Planning).

What you will do

  • Lead identification of impediments and facilitate team level meetings.
  • Coach Product Management and Product Owners on ensuring the right product is being built, in the right order, and that feedback is incorporated.
  • Aid program personnel in identifying meaningful metrics, establishing tracking mechanisms, and identifying and prioritizing improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as the Agile expert for the team(s) and the program.
  • Act as an Agile Trainer, leading students in introduction to, and (later) further maturity in understanding of Agile principles and best practices.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Facilitate and support all Agile Ceremonies: PI Planning Prep and PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-Up, Sprint Review/System Demo, and Retrospectives.
  • Assist Release Train Engineer (RTE) in identifying and optimizing Flow and Value Stream.
  • Assist Release Train Engineer (RTE) in tracking development progress and generation of:
  • Burndown/Burn-Up Reports, as needed;
  • Scrum/Team-level Reports;
  • Advanced Road-mapping;
  • Flow metrics.
  • Assist Release Train Engineer (RTE) in maintaining managing project settings, boards, workflows, tasks/issues, permissions, and users for Jira, Jira Projects and applicable Confluence spaces.
  • Optimize and improve Atlassian processes and workflows and identify where functionality can be improved.
  • Provide recommendations to users and leadership on best practices and standardization in implementing projects and processes within Jira and Confluence.
  • Create, manage, and support all program initiatives incorporating new applications and tools, as applicable.

What you need to have

  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance
  • BA/BS degree with 2+ years of experience; or
    • Associate's degree with 4+ years of experience; or
    • Advanced Degree (MA/MS) with some professional experience; or
    • 8+ years of professional experience, with no degree
  • Scrum Master certification (Scrum Alliance or similar)
  • At least two years of experience in agile software development at the agile release train or solution train level
  • Basic computer (Microsoft Office suite) and organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and report generation
  • Experience working with a team using scrum or other agile methodology
  • Strong communication skills are a must. Should be able to effectively engage business and technical stakeholders
  • Strong desire to learn any new technology as directed by leadership
  • Must be a collaborative and strong team player able to work indepenedently.

What we'd like you to have

  • Experience using JIRA or similar tracking system to manage development work.
  • Experience working with developers in a development environment incorporating requirements collection, interpretation, build, and delivery/release.
  • Experience in supporting DoD agencies; preferably Army.
