As a Technical Art Lead at Bungie, you will help create a joyful, visually engaging experience for millions of players. You will work closely with artists to bring to life a buoyant, playful visual style that champions gameplay readability. Most importantly, you will work with a fun, dedicated, cross-disciplined team united around our mission to create a positive impact on people’s lives as we bring a new Bungie world to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with technical artists and the project leadership to define and oversee the Technical Art roadmap.
  • Work closely with the Art Director to find innovative methods for bringing the team’s artistic vision to screen.
  • Design and implement render features and custom tools to enhance the game's visual fidelity and performance.
  • Create unique custom shaders and effects that are efficient, scalable and deliver on the team's vision.
  • Develop and refine workflows and pipelines that boost production efficiency and foster team collaboration.
  • Ensure visual aspects of the game are performant across all platforms (PC, console, mobile).
  • Introduce new features to the art team by showcasing examples, giving presentations, and producing relevant documentation.
  • Engage in proactive communication with all stakeholders to ensure shared objectives and preemptively manage any challenges. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience in developing and releasing video games.
  • Production experience with standard tools such as Maya, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
  • Professional experience using Python, HLSL, or C#.
  • A thorough understanding of and experience building shaders and rendering pipelines.
  • Ability to independently translate art team goals into creative solutions with a thorough understanding of cost, efficiency, and quality tradeoffs. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in producing clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation, with the ability to simplify complex topics. 
  • Experience in managing and resolving stability, performance, and memory issues across different platforms. 
  • Experience with Unreal Engine is highly desirable.

Listed below is this role's base pay range. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly). 
This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Bellevue Pay Range

$141,000$176,000 USD

 

Bungie full-time (non-contract) employees in the U.S. also receive:

  • 20 days of accrued time-off in the form of PTO and sabbatical days, depending on the level of the position
  • 10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date
  • 10 paid Bungie-observed holidays annually
  • One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked 

Contract and International FTE employees receive competitive benefits through their relevant contracting agency.
