The Financial Reporting Lead is responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate completion of internal and external (GAAP, Statutory, SEC, DOI, management reporting) investment accounting compliance deliverables for all OneAmerica Financial entities, as well as the performance of various daily investment accounting operations. This individual will act as a strong business partner throughout the enterprise and demonstrate flexibility as well as adaptability to rapidly changing priorities within our department. This role will be committed to improving quality, increasing efficiency, and driving process improvement initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Participate in the performance of daily investment accounting operations
  • Produce month/quarter-close internal deliverables with focus on quality, compliance with deadlines, and operational efficiencies.
  • Prepare various investment schedules, GAAP and Statutory financial statement footnote disclosures, and other external reporting requirements, ensuring quality and conformity with accounting and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with the technical accounting research and implementation of GAAP and Statutory accounting standards / guidance.
  • Partner with the Investments, Investment Ops, Corporate Finance, and IT teams to implement new process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide support to Investment Accounting leader(s) in complex and/or complicated areas/transactions, including but not limited to: derivatives, alternative investments, separate accounts, impairments.
  • Produce, adapt, and augment investment accounting analytical review capabilities
  • Act as workstream leader and/or key contributor to special projects.
  • Adhere to internal controls and supports timely compliance with audit requests

What you need:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant (investment) accounting, audit or corporate finance experience.
  • Proven technical accounting and reporting research skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting (GAAP and Statutory).
  • Strong communication (written and oral), critical thinking, and attention to detail skills.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making acumen.
  • Excellent problem solver and collaboration skills

Salary Band: 06B

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
