Join our dynamic Motor Control Division as an Engineering Intern on the e-Drive Software Team, where you will engage in cutting-edge research and development for electric motor control algorithms within electrified powertrains. This position offers the unique opportunity to interact with universities, customers, and team members to provide innovative solutions and support, aiming to surpass customer expectations.


This is a full-time 6-month internship for Masters or PhD Students, and is fully on-site in Farmington Hills, MI office. We do not provide any relocation assistance (domestic or international) for this position. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Innovation and Development: Advance e-motor control technology by innovating and employing new methods, tools, and processes. Establish and uphold best practices for e-motor related analysis, controls, and testing.
  • Algorithm Design and Testing: Conduct development of E-Motor control algorithms using Simulink/TargetLink models, including auto code generation, algorithm verification, and validation through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), dyno tests, and other prototype testing environments.
  • Performance Delivery: Ensure the delivery of system performance that aligns with and exceeds customer expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a Master’s or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2+ years of experience required.
  • Solid background in electric motor control and power electronics.
  • Proficiency with rapid prototyping tools such as DSPACE, MicroAutoBox, or FPGA.
  • Experience with MATLAB and TargetLink for modeling and simulation.
  • Familiarity with programming in C.
  • Understanding of power electronics applicable to electric drive systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred or PhD candidate.

Additional Information:

The current hourly rate for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $24 (Masters Students) / $26 (PhD Students)
