Your Impact

The EHS Manager will be based at the Rio Rancho, NM facility. The EH&S Manager is responsible for driving Environmental Health and Safety compliance, while building cross functional relationships and facilitating a behavioral based culture.


Your Responsibilities

  • The EH&S Manager is accountable for overseeing compliance of all site and governmental related EH&S policies, procedures and methods
  • Provides oversight, develops solutions and facilitates implementation of EH&S programs.
  • Develop, conduct, maintain and document all site training for new hires and current employees in areas of responsibility
  • Ensures site compliance with identified requirements
  • Responsible for outreach and inquiries to/from Government Agencies related to EH&S and security activities, which would include; OSHA, EPA, state and local law enforcement
  • Practice transparent compliance by utilizing EHS walk-throughs, corrective action logs, risk assessments and behavioral based safety observations
  • Champion efforts to audit physical conditions and safe work practices and researching standards, regulations, etc.
  • Implement, educate and maintain policies, practices, and programs associated with all phases of occupational safety, health, accident prevention, and environmental compliance
  • Lead and investigate employee near miss, corrective action, incident investigation, root cause discovery and reporting efforts
  • Recommend, develop, implement and create programs in order to reduce work related incidents or injuries with emphasis on prevention efforts geared toward near miss reporting and risk mitigation efforts
  • Manage EH&S training programs including but not limited to Emergency Action and Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, Process Safety Management, Lockout/Tagout, Proper Storage and Disposal of Hazardous - Non-Hazardous Waste
  • Gather and interpret data needed to provide on time delivery of annual EH&S state and federal reporting
  • Create strong and effective Hazardous Waste Operations / Spill Response Team. Serve as site’s Incident Commander
  • Fostering EHS Committee(s) that will aid in a strong and sustainable safety culture
  • Liaison with the City of Rio Rancho regarding Wastewater preparation, testing and analyzing results.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred (Engineering, Environmental Science, etc.), or any other related subject area preferred.
  • 8 plus years’ experience in health, safety, security, process safety, and occupational safety or related industrial management field
  • Demonstrated track record in producing safety improvement
  • Direct experience with Process Safety Management
  • Experience with OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulatory agencies
  • Policy and procedure creation and implementation
  • Experience in a High Hazard Process environment (HHP) and/or OSHA covered processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced setting and sometimes changing priorities.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office and ELN to write reports, document results and implement standard procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with good attention to detail

 Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • The working environment is generally favorable and comprises a laboratory and office environment.
  • Lighting, temperature, and noise levels are adequate.
  • Personal Protective Equipment is required where stated. This includes a lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk to the different lab areas.
  • The employee is regularly required to lift and move up to 35 lbs. of materials or equipment.
  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles and chemicals.
