About the team

As Director, Product Design of Rentals, Marketplace, you will grow, nurture, and retain Zillow rentals supply partners through both on and off platform experiences. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the user experience for Zillow Rentals partners and suppliers on our platform, as well as ensure that our supply is meeting the needs of renters searching on Zillow. You will lead a team of designers to shape the strategy, vision, and experience of our Rental Manager onboarding, tools, and performance management. This means ensuring our supply partners have a deep understanding of the benefits of Zillow, that they can get started easily and find tenants, can manage their rental portfolio across the rental lifecycle, meeting the needs of renters, and that partners can understand, evaluate, and optimize their performance along the way. You have an eye for innovative consumer-grade product design that is simple and meets the needs of users. You are collaborative and can influence across product, engineering, and marketing teams. You have deep experience leading teams to build compelling and polished designs that merge strategy, vision, user insight, and data into high quality features and experiences that launch with polish and impact. About the role

You Will Get To:

  • Partner with cross-disciplinary leaders to set strategy, vision, priorities, and focus for our Marketplace teams
  • Help innovate and lead a team to design for future experiences and business opportunities for Zillow Rentals
  • Manage a portfolio of product design work across small to enterprise landlords and property management companies
  • Find opportunities to improve our existing advertising tools for partners
  • Innovate new value to deliver to partners and renters across the lifecycle of their rental journey
  • Connect the dots across multiple businesses and provide a solution that serves all needs and audiences.
  • Drive and advocate for customer-centric thinking in a "heart forward" and mission driven organization.
  • Align with Product Managers, Engineers, and Marketing partners to build north star visions, roadmaps and projects plans.
  • Model exceptional design practices to other designers, engineers, and product managers.
  • Coach and develop your team to continuously improve our designs and the skills on the team.
  • Create an environment where your team and partners thrive and do their best work

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $207,900.00 - $332,100.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • 7+ years of experience in design leadership and people management, with a focus on empowering and supporting team members
  • 10+ years of experience in consumer design, showcasing a deep understanding of user-centric design principles and strategies
  • Vision forward thinking with the ability to take a large, ambitious plan and make it a reality through storytelling, prototyping, and other design artifacts that bring our plans to life.
  • A strong understanding of marketing, product marketing, and brand and how that work fits into digital experiences.
  • Gift for influence, clarity, collaboration, and building consensus in a remote environment.
  • Proven track record in building trust and sought after partner to the product, business, engineering, marketing, user research, content, and other design teams.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, comfortable being highly transparent, working through ambiguity, and being accountable for results.
  • High sense for craft across interaction design, information architecture, visual design, motion design, and prototyping and can guide a team of designers to produce high caliber design work.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and visual) with ability to influence and build consensus in a remote environment.
  • Outstanding coaching and feedback skills, with experience mentoring, sponsoring, supporting, and developing designers at different levels of their career.
  • Experience encouraging teams and helping them to deliver their best work while having fun at the same time.
  • Experience communicating effectively across all levels of the organization - from individual contributors to executive leaders.
