DevOps Engineer

This DevOps Engineer role is instrumental in our contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs, particularly focusing on enhancing the GI Bill claims processing system. The role involves sophisticated application development and operational analysis to ensure robust and efficient data handling, ultimately benefiting veterans and their families.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities
- Contribute across all phases of software development, with a strong focus on the planning, analysis, modeling, simulation, testing, integration, and documentation phases.
- Design, develop, and maintain network and computing infrastructure to support highly specialized applications within the Data Mart environment.
- Utilize a range of DevOps tools and technologies such as Terraform, Athena, Redshift, AWS Glue, and Kubernetes to streamline operations and enhance system functionalities.
- Manage containers and orchestration, implement ETL processes, and ensure robust data security practices using AWS IAM.
- Participate in the continuous integration and deployment processes, leveraging Git, Ansible, and other IaaS solutions to optimize cloud-based environments.
- Provide occasional on-call evening support to address urgent or critical system needs.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Extensive experience in DevOps or systems engineering, with a demonstrated ability to support and manage enterprise-level network and computing infrastructure.
- Proficient with AWS services including Athena, Redshift, and IAM, and tools such as Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Experience in setting up and managing containerized applications and orchestrating them using Kubernetes.
- Skilled in implementing and managing ETL processes and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) environments.
Certifications
- Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or other relevant DevOps technologies are highly desirable.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively presenting technical information to various stakeholders.
