We're currently looking for a Advanced Body Systems Design Engineer to join a new team in Farmington Hills, MI.

This role will require innovative thinking and a cross collaborative challenging mindset.

You will be required to build from your experience and shift to ask the question "What will it take to make it happen?" rather than always looking to do things the ways we have done things in the past.

This role will be responsible for design, development, analysis of parts and systems while keeping a Vehicle-Level awareness. You will need to know various Nissan design standards and various performance requirements for parts and systems. Parts can include: Body/Door sheet metal, glass, soft trim parts, plastic components and mechanisms (Spindle Drives/Locks/Hinges, Regulators, Check Links) to be designed/packaged/mocked up/validated for Advanced Development ~ Production . In addition, continuous improvement through warranty reduction on existing models.

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Daily use of NX CAD to study and make designs, present proposals and release the new or improved designs.
  • Warranty reduction using root cause analysis techniques.
  • Variation and tolerance analysis at both component and system level
  • Make presentations of ideas and studies to upper management
  • Manage suppliers to develop parts, meet cost, timing and quality targets
  • Manage cost and weight of assigned parts/systems to meet or exceed targets
  • Use of Project Management Software (Monday.com) for planning and task management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience in Body/Door Structures design
  • Prior use of NX CAD system along with the NX Advanced Simulation Module
  • Knowledge of CAE software (Able to conduct basic analysis and
  • Able to support some hands on Work to mock up proto-type solutions
  • Strong ability to visualize part or system and work in a totally digital environment through the development cycle until physical phase.
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally
  • Ability to support evening meetings with Japan
  • Ability to tell a story in logical fashion to the correct level of key stake holders
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary to complete job
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Knowledge of Fit and Finish
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter
