Our portfolio of solutions helps organizations reliably solve the complex challenges of database management across the DevOps lifecycle on any database, any platform, anywhere. We make life easier for IT leaders, development and operations teams, increasing efficiency, reducing errors and protecting business-critical data.
The data community knows it can trust Redgate to balance speed to market, collaboration across teams and the protection of business-critical data. For 25 years, our teams have been helping over 800,000 people in every kind of industry across the world, from small and medium-sized businesses to 92% of companies in the Fortune 100 - including Walt Disney, Intel, Amazon, and Yorkshire Water.
Our products solve the most challenging problems across the development lifecycle, integrating the database into agile workflows and database estates to be monitored and managed to ensure performance and security. We're growing and we are seeking a Technical Lead to join our team.
At Redgate, you'll be able to develop the skills you want the way you want, and we'll be there to support, advise, and encourage you. We'll give you the freedom, flexibility, and trust to excel at what you do, including enabling you to spend 10% of your time on personal development projects. You'll be working with bright people who are experts at what they do. You'll learn from us, and we'll learn from you.
Technical Leads at Redgate are vital to the success of our teams and the quality of the products we sell. The role requires a mix of skills; team leadership (both as part of the leadership group and the engineering team directly), technical leadership, people management and customer focus.
What makes you a great Technical Lead at Redgate?

  • Promotes an agile and lean approach to software development, encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to ensure required work gets done and the team gain skills and experience.
  • Able to have open and honest discussions of their people's performance. Gives constructive feedback and difficult feedback that lands nicely and drives improvement.
  • Cares for their people; is primarily concerned with their people's well-being and is considerate of their feelings and needs.
  • Excellent skills using a modern object-oriented language - we write code in a plethora of languages, including C#, Java, TypeScript and Go. See our Technical Radar (https://techradar.red-gate.com/)
  • Technical awareness (or a good understanding) of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud computing (AWS, Azure).
  • You thrive in a highly collaborative team and are enthusiastic about engaging with customers, designers, and product managers as necessary to create great products and services.
  • Experience as a people manager with proven success of running 1:1s, caring and helping everyone in your team, coaching and mentoring to support their growth and progress

Redgate understands that the skills of a great Technical Lead can vary; some are stronger in the technical and others in the non-technical. So, while we expect a proven history of development experience, we are also keen to meet those whose people management is stronger than their technical!
