Flatiron School’s Software Engineering course takes a holistic approach towards teaching both front end and back end technologies, ultimately turning students into Full Stack Developers. Our approach to learning focuses on applying skills through hands-on, collaborative experiences, whether that is through code-alongs, pair programming, code reviews, or coding challenges. Students will further hone communication skills and become part of the tech community as they build, share and refine their Github portfolios.

Whether you have zero coding knowledge, are self-taught, or are somewhere in between, our course is crafted for anyone. Throughout the course, if students are not building and refining code for apps or websites, they are busy studying, practicing, or attending lectures to learn different coding languages. Students begin by learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript basics, then dive into front end development with JavaScript and the ReactJS framework. Moving on to the back end, students will learn to work with databases using Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and SQL. Finally, students will independently research, build, and present a final project encompassing all the coding languages and technologies they learned throughout the course.
