VP Finance

Job Title: Vice President of Finance Department: Administration  

Reports to: President  

Job Purpose: 

The Vice President of Finance is responsible for the financial health and strategic fiscal  management of Saint Viator High School. This role involves overseeing all financial  operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, while ensuring alignment  with the School’s mission and the values of Catholic education.  

Key Responsibilities:  

● Develop, implement, and monitor financial strategies to ensure the long-term  financial stability and sustainability of the School. 

● Prepare and oversee the annual budget process, providing accurate financial  forecasts and variance analyses to support decision-making. 

● Assist and direct the President, Principal and the administrative team in presenting  budgetary needs for the School. 

● Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to the finance committee,  Board of Trustees, administration, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency  and accountability. 

● Supervise all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable,  payroll, and general ledger, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and  policies. 

● Approve all purchase orders and check requests. 

● Collaborate with school leadership to allocate resources effectively, supporting  academic programs, extracurricular activities, and capital projects. 

● Oversee the finances of the campus store and cafeteria in addition to the School’s  operating receipts and disbursement. 

● Oversee the School’s investments and endowment funds, working with Endowment  Board and financial advisors to optimize returns while managing risk. ● Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial  regulations and best practices in nonprofit financial management. 

● Maintain the School’s audit, banking and investment relationships. ● Monitor the Tuition Assistance Program.

● Collaborate with the Advancement team to identify funding opportunities, assist with  grant proposals, and support fundraising initiatives. 

● Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that promote sound fiscal  practices and align with the School’s mission. 

● Serve as the primary contact person for all School and personnel insurance matters. ● Serve as the School liaison with and is an Ex-Officio Member of the Investment  Board and is an Ex-Officio Member of the Board of Trustees.  

Qualifications/Experience: 

● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree or CPA certification is preferred. 

● Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial management, with a strong background in nonprofit or educational finance. 

● Personal support of Saint Viator High School’s mission and vision, exercises good judgment, personal integrity, and maturity. 

● Practicing Catholic preferred; must support Catholic teachings and values. Skills and Abilities: 

● Project a positive image of Saint Viator High School and maintain confidentiality when appropriate. 

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. 

● Proficiency in financial software and tools (Blackbaud preferred), as well as Microsoft Excel. 

● Strong organizational and time management abilities. 

● Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and foster a collaborative work environment. 

● Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse educational environment. Working Environment: 

● Work in a dynamic school environment, with potential evening and weekend commitments for events and meetings. 

● The role requires close collaboration with the administration, faculty, and board members. 

● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and keyboard; and reach with hands and arms. ● Moderate lifting is required.
