About Rapyuta Robotics

Rapyuta Robotics, an ETH Zurich spinoff headquartered in Tokyo, operates with the goal of making robots more accessible to anyone in the logistics industry. Guided by our core value of Empathy, we aim to automate work that is physically demanding, unsafe, or repetitive so that people can take on more intellectual and creative challenges. We develop and deploy robotics platforms and robot solutions powered by advanced control and artificial intelligence technologies, and we continue to grow rapidly with more than JPY 10 billion raised to date. Our diverse team of approximately 300 members from over 20 countries works across Japan, India, and the United States.

We are looking for passionate and talented individuals to join us in accelerating the robotics revolution.

Role and Responsibilities

As VP of Accounting & Finance, you will lead Rapyuta Robotics’ corporate finance function with a primary focus on equity financing and capital strategy. You will own fundraising from planning through execution — building relationships with venture capital firms, private equity funds, and other institutional investors in Japan and overseas — while providing leadership and high-level oversight to the accounting, legal, and IPO preparation members of the team.

Day-to-day execution of accounting, legal, and IPO readiness workstreams is led by experienced specialists. This role focuses on setting direction, managing and developing these team members, and representing the company to the investor community. The position offers broad ownership and the opportunity to expand your scope across the finance function, including areas related to future global expansion, depending on your interests, capabilities, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the company’s equity financing strategy and execution, from fundraising planning and investor targeting through term negotiation and closing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with equity investors — including venture capital firms, private equity funds, and international institutional investors — conducting discussions and negotiations in English.
  • Prepare and deliver investor materials, including pitch decks, financial models, and due diligence documentation.
  • Lead and manage the accounting, legal, and IPO preparation members of the team, supporting their growth, development, and performance.
  • Provide high-level oversight of financial reporting, closing quality, and audit firm communication, executed day-to-day by the Accounting Manager.
  • Oversee business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting to support fundraising narratives and management decision-making.
  • Provide direction and oversight for IPO preparation workstreams in collaboration with the team’s legal and IPO-experienced members.
  • Prepare materials for Board of Directors and shareholder meetings, and support the operation of these governance processes.

Requirements

Requirements (MUST)

  • Substantial experience in equity financing — for example, in equity capital markets or investment banking at an investment bank or securities firm, or leading fundraising at a later-stage startup or growth company.
  • Proven track record of engaging directly with equity investors such as venture capital firms and private equity funds, including international investors.
  • Solid working understanding of accounting, management accounting, and IPO preparation, sufficient to oversee and manage specialists in these areas (hands-on execution experience not required).
  • Experience managing a team or leading cross-functional members.
  • Advanced business-level English proficiency, including the ability to lead investor discussions and negotiations in English.
  • Business-level Japanese proficiency.
  • Strong adaptability and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications (WANT)

  • Experience in the equity capital markets (ECM) or investment banking division of an investment bank or securities firm.
  • Experience leading late-stage or pre-IPO fundraising at a high-growth company.
  • Experience with cross-border transactions or raising capital from overseas investors.
  • Experience in an IPO preparation environment or at a listed company.
  • CFA, CPA, MBA, or an equivalent qualification in finance or accounting.
  • Experience working in a global company or multinational team.

Skills Required
