Underwriting Manager

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Underwriting Manager to lead our mortgage underwriting team at Right Start Mortgage. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing the underwriting process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless workflow from application to approval.

Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership:

   • Lead and inspire a team of underwriters, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and collaboration.
   • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that aligns with company values.

2. Operational Oversight:

   • Manage and supervise daily mortgage underwriting operations, ensuring adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
   • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement streamlined procedures.

3. Quality Assurance:

   • Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure accuracy and consistency in underwriting decisions.
   • Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

4. Risk Management:

   • Evaluate and mitigate potential risks associated with mortgage loan applications.
   • Provide guidance on complex or exceptional cases, ensuring consistent and well-documented underwriting decisions.

5. Communication and Coordination:

   • Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, including loan officers, processors, and senior management, to address inquiries and provide guidance.
   • Collaborate with other departments to optimize cross-functional processes.

6. Training and Development:

   • Provide training and ongoing development opportunities for underwriting team members.
   • Ensure team members stay informed about changes in industry regulations and company policies.

7. Reporting and Analysis:

   • Analyze operational performance metrics, underwriting trends, and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
   • Generate regular reports for senior management to inform decision-making.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
• Proven experience in mortgage underwriting management.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
