We are looking for a detail-oriented Translation Intern to support the subtitle and translation workflow for #ABtalks episodes. The intern will work closely with the Release and Post-Production teams to ensure subtitles are accurate, well-formatted, and ready for publication across different languages and platforms.
This role is ideal for someone with strong language skills, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in media, translation, and subtitling.
Responsibilities
- Review episode subtitle files for accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall quality.
- Review translations to ensure they accurately reflect the meaning, tone, and context of the original dialogue.
- Work with SRT subtitle files, including reviewing, correcting, formatting, and preparing them for delivery.
- Generate subtitles using AI subtitle and translation tools, and carefully review and refine the generated output.
- Support the creation of subtitles across multiple languages, using approved source subtitle files as a base.
- Check subtitle timing, synchronization, line breaks, and readability against the final episode.
- Identify and correct inconsistencies in names, terminology, expressions, and formatting throughout an episode.
- Support the organization and management of subtitle files across different episodes and languages.
- Coordinate with the Release team to ensure subtitle files are completed according to the episode release schedule and deadlines.
- Carry out final quality-control checks on subtitle files before episodes are released.
- Support the team with other translation and subtitle-related tasks as required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and English; additional languages are a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when reviewing written content.
- Strong understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and natural phrasing.
- Ability to understand context and translate meaning rather than relying on literal word-for-word translation.
- Comfortable learning and working with AI-powered transcription and translation tools.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- An interest in media, interviews, subtitling, translation, or post-production is preferred.
- Previous experience with subtitle files or SRT formatting is an advantage but not required.
- Hands-on experience working on subtitles for professionally produced interview episodes.
- Practical experience with subtitle workflows from initial transcription and translation through to final release.
- Exposure to AI-assisted translation and subtitling tools used within a professional media environment.
- Experience collaborating with Release, Editing, and Post-Production teams.
- An understanding of quality-control standards for multilingual digital content.
