Technical Project Manager

Position Summary

The Technical Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technology projects that support Conklin’s distribution enterprise systems. This role bridges the gap between IT, office operations, and business stakeholders. The role is focused on translating operational needs into technical solutions and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing technology projects in an HVAC, and metals distribution environment, understands  e commerce,  ERP/WMS platforms, and is comfortable working across corporate offices and distribution locations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead end to end delivery of technology projects, including ERP implementations/upgrades, warehouse management system (WMS) rollouts, e commerce platforms and business intelligence tools. 
  • Develop and maintain project charters, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk registers.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects across corporate locations.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary project liaison between IT, operations leadership, internal stakeholders,  and external vendors/system integrators.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and SOWs for technology implementations related to ERP (Profit 21), Warehouse management system and other operational line of business applications.  
  • Communicate project status, risks, and decisions clearly to executive stakeholders.

 

Technical Coordination

  • Partner with IT infrastructure, applications, and data teams to ensure projects integrate cleanly with existing systems (ERP tool Epicor P21,  WMS; CRM; BI/reporting tools).
  • Understand and account for the realities of office and distribution facility production systems.
  • Support integration between office IT systems and operational technology (OT) environments.

Process & Change Management

  • Drive process improvement initiatives that reduce downtime, improve inventory accuracy, and increase throughput.
  • Assist in leading  change management efforts, including training, documentation, and adoption support for plant and warehouse staff.

Governance & Reporting

  • Maintain project documentation, status reports, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Track KPIs related to project delivery (on time, on budget, scope adherence) and operational impact (efficiency gains, cost savings, error reduction).
  • Identify and escalate risks proactively; develop mitigation plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • 3-5+ years of project management experience, with at least 2–3 years in an HVAC, metals  distribution setting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technology projects involving ERP and additional operations based systems
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and/or distribution operations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Monday.com, Asana etc.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party implementation partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the HVAC and metals specifically (steel, aluminum, coil processing, service centers, fabrication, or metal distribution).
  • PMP, CAPM, or PMI-ACP certification.
  • Experience with cloud migrations, cybersecurity considerations for OT environments, or data/BI initiatives (Power BI, Tableau).
