We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to support the delivery of Equal1’s cryomechanical and quantum system integration roadmap. In this role, you will manage the research, development, prototype production, and delivery of our in-house cryogenic cooler technology and integrated quantum computing systems.
This is a cross-functional role requiring strong technical program management experience, excellent organisational skills, and a solid understanding of complex scientific, semiconductor, or advanced engineering equipment development. You will work with internal teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturing partners to ensure prototypes are delivered on time, on budget, and ready for early customer deployments.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead planning and execution of cryomechanical and quantum system integration programs, from R&D through prototype delivery.
Build and maintain program plans, including timelines, owners, dependencies, critical paths, budgets, and deliverables.
Conduct critical path analysis, identify bottlenecks, communicate risks, and help resolve resource conflicts.
Coordinate work across hardware, cryomechanical, systems engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
Support supply chain and component management, including long-lead items, supplier dependencies, BOM readiness, and build status.
Support BOM, PLM, documentation, change control, and configuration management activities.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI), production ramp, and customer support readiness.
Coordinate certification activities for relevant equipment, including FCC, CE, UL, and other applicable requirements.
Provide clear reporting on program status, risks, decisions required, and overall delivery health.
Required
10+ years’ experience in technical program management within complex hardware, semiconductor, scientific equipment, cryogenic systems, or advanced engineering environments.
Strong understanding of scientific and/or semiconductor equipment assembly, manufacturing, and integration processes.
Experience with mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
Experience with supply chain and component management, BOM structures, PLM systems, and documentation control.
Experience with NPI, production ramp, and customer support readiness.
Highly organised, structured, and able to coordinate work across multiple teams, suppliers, timelines, and dependencies.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive clarity, accountability, and risk resolution in a fast-paced technical environment.
Desired
Experience with cryogenic systems, quantum hardware, scientific instrumentation, or semiconductor process/equipment development.
Experience managing certification processes for complex equipment, including FCC, CE, UL, or equivalent requirements.
Experience working with international suppliers, outsourced manufacturing partners, and early customer deployments.

What We Do
Equal1 Laboratories is accelerating the introduction of useful, cost effective quantum computers within a three-year time horizon. The company has developed a disruptive, scalable and cost-effective quantum computing technology, based on a commercially available silicon semiconductor process. Our solution uses nanometer-scale quantum dots to form qubits on a standard silicon CMOS process. Along with silicon qubits, we have integrated all functions required for a quantum processing unit (QPU) – the brain of the quantum computer – which operates at 3 kelvin with over 10 million transistors. This is the first integrated quantum processing unit of its kind. The company’s server-sized demonstrator, called Alice, uses the second generation, fully functioning QPU. Alice uses our 424 quantum-dot-array structure to demonstrate early indications of the impact this technology can have on AI applications. Equal1 is developing its silicon-based quantum computer technology in collaboration with University College Dublin, with hardware development laboratories in Fremont, California and a silicon design center at NovaUCD in Dublin, Ireland
