Tax Manager
At Mariner, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Tax Manager to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will collaborate directly with clients and wealth management teams to develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies tailored to each client's individual goals and values. We are looking for a tax enthusiast who is a thoughtful listener, demonstrates a strong team mentality, and is passionate about both professional and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor a growing team of professionals, fostering skill development and expertise through a client-focused approach
Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction, retention, and confidence through demonstrated expertise and proactive communication
Oversee consulting and tax projects, including charitable giving calculations, private foundation minimum payouts, and other tax and financial planning initiatives
Review tax returns, quarterly and annual tax projections, estimated tax vouchers, extension forms, supporting work papers, and financial statements
Understand clients’ broader financial needs and identify value-added services that Mariner Wealth Advisors can offer
Collaborate with peers and leadership to develop and present strategic tax planning solutions for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses
Guide and support in-depth research on complex tax issues and regulatory updates
Commit to continuous professional development, team training, and mentoring of new tax associates
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 5 years of tax experience in a public or private accounting firm or financial planning firm
CPA or EA designation preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong track record providing tax consulting to high-net-worth clients, partnerships, trusts, and closely held entities
Advanced research capabilities related to complex tax matters and changing regulations
Proficiency with tax compliance software (CCH or GOSystem preferred)
Exceptional interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a capacity to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience in talent development, including training and mentoring staff and interns
High attention to detail
