As a Systems Engineer, you will...
- Lead administration of Linux and Windows systems in secure, mission-critical environments.
- Provide Tier II/III technical support, resolving hardware, software, and user issues through ticket closure.
- Manage server, storage, and virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM).
- Install, configure, harden, and patch systems in compliance with DoD STIGs and security policies.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and perform root cause analysis.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations.
- Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, and related tools.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and CM/RM artifacts.
- Lead system modernization, deployments, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Partner with cybersecurity, network, and development teams to ensure secure, reliable operations.
- Support security audits, incident response, and operational readiness.
Systems Engineer Qualifications...
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CASP+, CISSP).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience with Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS) and Windows Server platform system administration.
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM) and management tools.
- Experience with automation and scripting (Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Familiarity with STIG compliance, system hardening, ACAS scans, and RMF processes.
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking, identity/access management, and storage concepts.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, document, and lead systems-related projects independently.
- Experience supporting IC or DoD classified environments.
Additional Skills We'd Like to See:
- Experience supporting our customer or GEOINT missions.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and pipelines (Git, Jenkins, Docker, etc.).
- Knowledge of enterprise backup solutions, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and PKI.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years experience
- Proven hands-on experience administering and supporting Databricks in enterprise or mission-critical environments
- Skilled in managing AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and networking components
- Experience developing and testing automation scripts to streamline cloud and data operations
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, work instructions, and configuration records
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data transformation, analysis, and visualization
- Experienced in building PowerPoint presentations with integrated visuals and analytical insights
- Familiarity with classified cloud environment standards and compliance best practices
- Must hold or be willing to obtain Security+ CE (or equivalent) within six months
- Background in Agile/Scrum environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, able to work independently or in teams
- Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community (IC) customers
- Familiarity with IC customer mission systems and data handling standards
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS)
- Experience with Python (Pandas, Boto3, PySpark, MLOps), Java or Scala in a data engineering context
- AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect) or willingness to obtain
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash
- Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Microsoft Power Query, Power Pivot
- Strong proficiency in SQL including performance tuning and query plan analysis
- Experience transforming and joining/merging datasets sharing common keys
- Understanding of software architectures: Client-Server, Microservices, MVC
- Familiarity with multi-cloud architectures (AWS, IBM, Google, Azure, Oracle)
- Familiarity with additional AWS services: EBS, SQS, SNS, KMS and CloudFormation (beyond core services)
- Certifications such as AWS DevOps Engineer or similar
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab, Docker
