JOB DESCRIPTION

The System Administrator will manage and maintain enterprise infrastructure systems including storage, virtualization, and cloud environments. This position requires hands-on technical expertise in NetApp and VMWare platforms, combined with automation and scripting capabilities to support patching, configuration management, and system accreditation processes. The administrator must be proficient in managing complex infrastructure environments while implementing automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency and security compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and maintain NetApp storage systems to ensure optimal performance and availability
  • Manage VMWare virtualization infrastructure including vSphere/ESXi environments
  • Execute hardware patching procedures across enterprise systems to maintain security and stability
  • Develop and maintain Ansible scripts for configuration management and automation workflows
  • Create and optimize Bash scripts for system administration tasks and operational efficiency
  • Implement automation solutions for routine patching and maintenance of operating systems
  • Support cloud infrastructure patching with automated processes and tools
  • Manage PKI infrastructure and x509 certificate lifecycle across enterprise systems
  • Administer LDAP directory services and authentication mechanisms
  • Support system accreditation processes including documentation and compliance validation
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues before they impact operations
  • Coordinate and execute planned maintenance windows with minimal disruption to services
  • Document system configuration, procedures, changes, and troubleshooting steps
  • Operate as a DTO (Data Transfer Officer)
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure solutions with business objectives
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to team members
  • Support incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • At least three (3) years of current experience administering complex infrastructure systems including storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Experience implementing automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Demonstrated experience managing NetApp storage systems in enterprise environments
  • Proven expertise administering VMWare virtualization infrastructure (vSphere/ESXi)
  • Hands-on experience with hardware patching procedures and maintenance operations
  • Proficiency developing and maintaining Ansible scripts for configuration management and automation
  • Strong Bash scripting skills for system administration and operational tasks
  • Demonstrated expertise in PKI and v509 certificate management across enterprise systems
  • Established experience administering LDAP directory services and authentication systems
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure patching with automation tools
  • Familiarity supporting system accreditation processes and compliance documentation
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix system administration principles
  • Experience with version control systems and code management best practices

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Python scripting and programming experience for advanced automation solutions
  • Prior experience delivering infrastructure solutions that adhere to customer or IC data handling, compliance, and security requirements
  • Experience with infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline integration for infrastructure automation
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and cloud-native services
  • Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA) and compliance standards
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools beyond Ansible (Puppet, Chef, Salt)
  • Experience working with multiple external customers and adapting solutions to diverse requirements

A candidate must be a US Citizen and requires an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
