Job Summary

This role will be a key Barnes & Noble Engineering team member. This position reports to the Director of Industrial Engineering and Analytics. Evaluate and analyze warehouse operations through detailed data analysis to drive warehouse performance excellence: identify issues and opportunities for improvement, document process changes, and gather data. Present warehouse improvement projects, create case studies, evaluate ROI, develop business requirements, and assist through design, acceptance, and deployment.

What You Do

• Understand warehouse operations and identify delays and opportunities for improvement to increase warehouse productivity: observe warehouse employees, break down processes, identify bottlenecks, and identify problems related to systems, procedures, or pace issues. • In charge of setting up logistics and distribution center's metrics. Including but not limited to inventory's rate of movement, warehouse capacity, inbound/ outbound activity, service level, reliability of transport and delivery, and other data related to product supply chain management, sourcing, and distribution.• Support the growth and development of the Distribution network, including facility design, maximization of space utilization and start-up of new DCs.• Document and maintain Standard Operation Procedures, Process flow diagrams and Work instructions.• Understand order cadence and waving strategies leading to an increase in warehouse productivity.• Collaborate with work standardization, perform time studies.• In charge of Labor management administration: employee productivity tracking, labor models and forecasting.• Able to run Inventory analysis: ABC modeling for over 300K SKUs. • Collaborate with Slotting initiatives: able to recommend logic, validate simulations, approve slotting moves for production and track efficiency of inventory moves completed. • Project management: able to present new initiatives for warehouse improvement projects, build case studies, obtain buy-in from stakeholders, evaluate ROI, create timelines, track project milestones, etc.• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience

• BS degree IE, Supply chain, or equivalent work experience.• 4-7 years' experience working in Distribution Centers.• Strong knowledge of supply chain processes (e.g., inventory planning, warehouse, order, and labor management)• Experience in slotting a warehouse• Experience deploying Labor management. • Experience working with large sets of data.• Project management skills: maintain issues log, create process flows, establish critical path, and maintain documents.• Works well under deadlines, is a self-starter, innovative, team-oriented, customer-focused, etc.• Advanced in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.• Experience in Microsoft Access, preferred Excel and Access & working knowledge of SQL.• Experience using AutoCAD• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with employees at different levels of the organization (Office and Warehouse employees)• Able to think outside the box, troubleshooting skills.• Flexible regarding work schedule when needed. •
