As an intern, you’ll be fully immersed in the day-to-day activities of one of our six investment domains, contributing to real projects that make an impact. Fundamental Equity Investing is where it all started for Robeco. It’s arguably the purest form of investing: finding the most attractive companies to invest in. We base our investment decisions on in-depth fundamental research into businesses, sectors, macroeconomics and trends. We offer opportunities across Thematic and Emerging Markets equities.

Fixed Income Investing is where complexity meets creativity. The Fixed Income team invests in government- and company-issued debt across a wide variety of sectors, countries, and ratings. We offer opportunities across the Global Macro and Fundamental Credits teams.

Quantitative Research is in Robeco’s DNA. We make our investment decisions based on hidden relationships in our data using state-of-the-art techniques. We offer opportunities across the Quantitative Equities Research, Quantitative Equities Portfolio Management, and Robeco Indices teams.

Investment Solutions is at the intersection of various asset classes. The Investment Solutions team delivers superior, research-driven, sustainable strategies and designs innovative solutions that fit clients’ needs. The team manages assets across multi-asset funds, discretionary multi-asset solutions, and customized fixed income solutions.

Investment Data Science and Engineering  transforms vast datasets from financial markets and sustainability sources into actionable insights. That covers the quantitative investment process infrastructure, as well as tools and analyses for fundamental insight. A recent focus is on how we can leverage AI in our fundamental investment processes.

Position & Requirements

Your internship begins with an introduction to the company, followed by hands-on training sessions to prepare you for the work ahead. From there, you’ll dive into the daily activities of your team, gaining real-world experience and contributing directly to ongoing projects.

Examples of previous projects are:

• Write a white paper on an emerging technology trend and evaluate which companies are best positioned to benefit from it.
• Develop a python model in Bloomberg to identify relative value opportunities on government bond curves.
• Enhance economic forecasting by improving real-time “nowcasting” models.
• Leverage new alternative data sources to uncover new alpha sources.
• Analyze the EV supply chain, identifying which battery suppliers have strong long-term prospects.

Beyond your project work, you’ll take part in social activities, weekly training sessions, and connect with colleagues across departments to build your professional network.

Internship vacancies at Robeco in Rotterdam are open to students (second-year Bachelor’s and higher) enrolled at a university during the first month of their internship. Our interns must also be eligible for a residence permit to do an internship in the Netherlands. This means we can recruit EU citizens studying at an university abroad or non-EU citizens studying at a Dutch university. 

Using AI in your interview process

At Robeco, we welcome AI as a tool, and you’re very much encouraged to use it while preparing for your interviews: for example to brainstorm likely questions, practice structuring your answers, research our firm, review technical concepts and refine your CV. What matters to us is that everything you submit is genuinely yours. You should be able to explain every line of your application.

During the interviews itself, however, AI tools are not permitted. This means no AI listening in, no real-time prompts or suggestions on another device or browser, no reading or paraphrasing AI-generated answers. Using AI in these ways may affect your candidacy. Our goal is to understand how you think and what really drives you.
