Stripe Integration Consultant

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a highly motivated, techno-functional Stripe Integration Consultant with 3–5 years of proven experience configuring the Stripe platform and building robust integrations between Stripe and enterprise systems. This is a dual-hatted role: you will set up and configure Stripe (Dashboard, products, tax and invoicing settings, webhooks, and security controls) as a functional expert, and you will develop, test, and maintain the integration code that connects Stripe transaction and invoicing data into Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax (IDT) and eInvoicing solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong command of Stripe’s ecosystem and APIs, understands how payment, billing, and invoicing data maps to indirect tax determination and statutory e-invoicing, and can translate business and compliance requirements into working technical solutions. This is a collaborative role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is dedicated to building market-leading integrations. A college degree is required.

Functional — Stripe Setup & Configuration

•     Set up and configure Stripe accounts, products, prices, and business settings; configure Stripe Billing, Invoicing, Tax, Checkout, and (where applicable) Connect for the required business and compliance scenarios.

•     Configure webhooks, event subscriptions, API keys, and environment (test/live) settings; define and document the events and data objects the integration will consume.

•     Configure tax and invoicing behavior in Stripe so that transaction and invoice data carries the fields required for downstream indirect tax determination and statutory e-invoicing.

•     Run discovery sessions with business analysts, product owners, and compliance stakeholders to capture functional requirements and translate them into Stripe configuration and integration specifications.

•     Own the Stripe security and compliance posture for the integration (PCI-DSS-aware flows, SCA/3DS, Radar, key rotation, least-privilege access).

Technical — Integration Development

•     Design, develop, and implement integrations between Stripe and external systems — specifically ONESOURCE Indirect Tax (IDT) and eInvoicing — as well as adjacent ERP, billing, and finance systems.

•     Build and maintain services that consume Stripe’s Admin/Core APIs and webhooks, transform payment and invoice payloads, and pass them into tax determination and e-invoicing pipelines.

•     Map Stripe data objects (charges, invoices, customers, tax lines, line items) to the canonical formats required by IDT and eInvoicing (e.g., UBL/Peppol, country-specific schemas).

•     Write clean, efficient, well-documented code adhering to best practices and company standards; contribute to the architectural design of integrations and lead the design of less complex components.

•     Create and execute comprehensive unit and integration tests; work closely with QA to resolve issues identified during testing.

•     Implement resilient integration patterns — idempotency, retries, reconciliation, error handling, and observability — for high-volume, near-real-time payment events.

Delivery & Collaboration

•     Assist in identifying and evaluating short- and long-term solution options, including risk assessments for integration projects.

•     Participate in project planning, providing design options, work breakdowns, and accurate estimates; provide timely status updates.

•     Create, review, and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and configuration guides for assigned integrations.

•     Actively participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and code reviews, following disciplined software development processes and corporate policies.

•     Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

•     3–5 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining integrations, with demonstrable experience configuring and integrating the Stripe platform.

•     Proficient with Stripe APIs (Core/Admin API), webhooks, and the Stripe Dashboard; hands-on with Stripe Billing, Invoicing, Checkout, and Stripe Tax.

•     Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP semantics, webhooks/event-driven design, JSON, and XML; experience with SOAP where required by target systems.

•     Proficient in at least one object-oriented / back-end language (e.g., Java, Node.js/JavaScript, or Python) for integration development; SQL for data mapping and analysis.

•     Solid grasp of PCI-DSS-aware payment flows, SCA/3D Secure, tokenization, and secure handling of secrets and API keys.

•     Demonstrable experience with database concepts, data mapping, and integration patterns (idempotency, retries, reconciliation).

•     Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills, with the ability to quickly learn new integration points and troubleshoot existing solutions.

•     Strong communication and interpersonal skills — able to bridge functional (business/compliance) and technical (engineering) conversations.

•     Exceptional planning, organization, and time-management skills; able to handle multiple projects and priorities in a high-energy environment.

•     Experience with Stripe Connect (marketplace/platform payments) and building custom reporting on Stripe’s reporting/Sigma data.

•     Working knowledge of indirect tax (VAT/GST/Sales & Use Tax) determination and statutory e-invoicing / e-reporting mandates (e.g., Peppol, UBL 2.x, country-specific clearance models).

•     Prior experience integrating Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE (Indirect Tax Determination, eInvoicing) or comparable tax engines (e.g., Avalara, Vertex).

•     Experience integrating payment/commerce platforms with ERP, CRM, or billing systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce).

•     Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and serverless/event-driven architectures for integration components.

•     Knowledge of version control (Git) and CI/CD; familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

•     Stripe certification or Stripe Partner Program credentials; understanding of security, performance optimization, and reliability best practices.
