A Command Center pairs proven narrative strategy and audience insights with a cutting-edge, creator-led approach to reaching, moving, and mobilizing the people who matter most—helping organizations break through in a media environment now shaped by algorithms and online communities.
Working hand in hand with clients, you’ll own the strategic core of these engagements—setting messaging priorities, building narrative frameworks, and directing the creative. It’s fast work. You’ll read the culture and translate it into what clients should say, to whom, and through which creators, at the speed the moment demands.
This is a role for a seasoned communicator and campaigner who thinks like an entrepreneur. You bring the craft of traditional narrative strategy and the drive to design the new approaches this era demands—connecting with people through the communities and creators they trust.
What you’ll do- Partner closely with clients to develop a narrative strategy tailored to their organization, goals, and context—guiding them through the process and building internal alignment and buy-in across their organization
- Articulate the core elements, including key messages, target audiences, brand pillars, and the thematic frames that anchor all content and creator activity
- Collaborate with the data and research team to develop the audience insights that ground the strategy—identifying who to reach, what moves them, and where to find them
- Stand up the Creator Command Center, establishing the workflows and tools the team needs to operate at speed
- Manage relationships with partner agencies and vendors, coordinating on creator recruitment, onboarding, timelines, and deliverables
- Build and steward a roster of creators across platforms, earning the trust they need to engage on high-stakes issues
7+ years in narrative strategy, campaign communications, political or issue-based strategy, or a closely related field—with a track record of leading high-stakes, high-velocity work.
- Demonstrated ability to develop overarching narrative and messaging frameworks across complex, fast-moving issue landscapes
- Proven ability to engage and build trust with senior, high-level clients—guiding executives and organizational leaders through strategic processes, sustaining and deepening relationships over the arc of an engagement
- Exceptional synthesis and writing skills—you can take dense research or competing signals and distill them into clear strategic direction
- A collaborative leadership style—you make teams around you sharper without overriding the voices and expertise they bring
- Entrepreneurial orientation—you’re energized by scaling something proven, comfortable with ambiguity, and rigorous about learning from what you launch
- Experience designing or refining organizational offerings, products, or service models, whether in a consultancy, agency, startup, or advocacy context
- Experience in movement communications, advocacy, or issue-area campaigning outside traditional electoral contexts
- Familiarity with creator ecosystems and influencer strategy—you understand how narrative translates to platform-native content, even if you’re not a platform specialist
- You’re a strategist and a builder—as comfortable setting the big-picture direction as sweating the details of a single brief.
- You work well under pressure; the pace of breaking news pushes you rather than drains you, and you keep a clear head when the response has to happen now.
- You care about getting it both fast and right, about giving creators real freedom while holding to the strategy, about being creative without being careless.
- And you’re in it for the scale. You want to reach millions of people and actually move them.
The pay range is $9,000–$12,000 per month and is set by working days and experience. Compensation is competitive with current market rates for comparable roles in media and communications. The role includes full benefits, with health coverage and paid time off. It is remote, with a strong preference for candidates based in New York, Toronto, or Los Angeles, and the option to work from our New York office.
