Process Engineering (Entry-Mid-level) - Energy
BL Companies is seeking a motivated individual with 0-3 years of engineering experience to join their growing Energy Engineering team.
Our vision for this position is to provide opportunities to support projects within our Energy / Utility portfolio, including wastewater, natural gas, and electric infrastructure. While prior experience with these assets is preferred, it is not required for this position.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design drawing development using CAD and Civil3D.
- Research permit requirements and local regulations.
- Coordinate with project team across multiple offices and disciplines on design, permitting and construction components.
Other Potential Responsibilities May Include:
- Review and/or development of procedure documents.
- Process flow diagram, P&ID, and heat and material balance development.
- Performing basic engineering calculations for mechanical equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, membranes, phase separation equipment (absorbers, distillation columns, etc.), blowers / diffusers, grinders, mixing systems, gas storage devices, as well as pipe sizing and flow analysis.
- Performing basic water treatment calculations for organic loading rates (BOD, COD, TSS), nutrient removal, oxygen demand, F/M ratio, residence time.
- Performing basic renewable natural gas production calculations for anaerobic digestions and the design of ancillary equipment surrounding digesters.
- Assist with preparation of technical reports
- Developing design drawings and specifications.
- Site layout and design.
- Peer design reviews and quality control.
Required Experience:
- Position requires 0-3 years of experience.
- BS in Engineering required (Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred).
- EIT Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil3D as well as basic Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Excellent technical, communication and organizational skills.

Skills Required
- 0-3 years of engineering experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil3D
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills
- Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering background
- Engineer in Training certification
- Prior experience with wastewater, natural gas, or electric infrastructure
