Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is a detail-oriented, multitasking position that assists the Controller in maintenance of all financial and accounting records required by DHHS regulations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financials records, preparing for audits, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The position computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the Controller in preparing monthly financial statements.
• Assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, including review of MIP Accounting Software sub-ledger accounts, preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare, create and/or review monthly entries and templates, including but not limited to the following: prepaids, fixed assets, grants receivables and other adjusting journal entries.
• Conducts variance analysis to compare actual performance against budgeted goals on a monthly basis.
• Track restricted funds, manage grant invoicing, and ensuring financial reporting compliance for federal and state grants.
• Reconcile and/or review bank statements to general ledger.
• Assist in the reviewing and approval of accounts payable vouchers for processing according to approved budgets.
• Assist with revenue cycle operations, including data entries and performance metrics
• Reconcile trial balance accounts monthly.
• Prepare schedules and documents as requested for external financial audits.
• Assist with the accounting for and preparation of reports in conjunction with Federal and State grant assistance programs.
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues.
• Support the creation, review and revision of grant budgets and the organization's annual budget
• Assist in the yearly 1099 process.
• Assist with mandatory reports such as UDS (Uniform Data System) metrics
• Assist with maintenance of the fixed asset records
• Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in accounting with five years relevant accounting, auditing and/or fiscal administration experience. Medical experience helpful.
ABILITY TO:
• Effectively communicate with co-workers, patients, and community representatives. Good oral and written skills are necessary to accomplish the above- mentioned duties.
• Calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records
• Use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
• Operate Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)

Eligibility Requirements:
