We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly analytical Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role will focus heavily on managing multi-entity financial recordkeeping, intercompany reconciliations, month-end closing procedures, and financial reporting across our 16 clinic locations and associated entities.
The ideal candidate has strong general ledger experience, understands multi-entity healthcare or multi-location accounting, and operates comfortably in dynamic, US-aligned remote workflows.
The Staff Accountant will prepare the underlying accounting work for Controller review, including reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and supporting documentation, and will proactively raise discrepancies or questions requiring Controller guidance.
Genesis also has a part-time Accounts Payable Lead. The Staff Accountant will work in tandem with this teammate rather than replacing the AP function.
Responsibilities:
Payroll & Expense Accounting
ADP Processing: Execute bi-weekly payroll runs and reconcile activity to QuickBooks Online.
General Ledger & Allocations: Prepare payroll journal entries, reconcile balance sheet liabilities (taxes, benefits), and maintain recurring shared-cost allocation schedules per Controller guidelines.
Intercompany: Assist with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
Accounts Payable Support (Partnering with AP Lead)
GL Accuracy: Review coding and classification, reconcile AP activity to the general ledger, and support vendor record maintenance.
Resolution & Backup: Resolve vendor, coding, and payment discrepancies, and provide backup AP coverage as needed.
Revenue & Cash Reconciliation
Cash & Revenue: Reconcile cash receipts, deposits, billing records, and revenue activity; investigate variances across bank reports, billing systems, and the GL.
AR & Escalations: Support accounts receivable accounting and escalate judgment-based matters to the Controller.
Accounting Operations & Continuous Improvement
Month-End & Documentation: Maintain close checklists, workpapers, and documentation for recurring processes, audits, and tax requests.
Data Quality & Scaling: Support QBO cleanup, drive process efficiencies to reduce manual work, and adapt procedures as Genesis adds locations, providers, and services.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. (CPA or equivalent certification is a plus).
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Multi-Entity Background: Direct hands-on experience managing financial accounting for multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-subsidiary structures (healthcare/medical practice experience preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with cloud accounting software (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar) and advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, sumifs).
- Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Work Arrangement: Ability to work remotely with a stable high-speed internet connection and overlap with US Central Time (CT) business hours.
Benefits
This is a full-time remote position. The Staff Accountant is expected to maintain regular working hours aligned with the U.S. Central Time Zone.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting, takes ownership of accurate books and reconciliations, and values working closely with an experienced Controller in a growing healthcare organization
