About the Role

XiFin is seeking an experienced Senior Total Rewards Analyst to analyze claims and plan performance, build financial models, and support vendor oversight and renewals. This role is for an experienced professional who works independently, turns complex data into clear recommendations, and wants to build breadth across the full total rewards spectrum.

In this role, you will partner closely with our HR operations team and finance and accounting teams to analyze and pay medical benefits claims for our self-funded plan. Over time, the role will expand into compensation and total rewards strategy, including market pricing, pay structure, and pay equity analysis. This position can be performed onsite in either our San Diego, CA or our Charleston, SC office.

How you will make an impact:

In this role, you’ll focus on the following:

Self-Funded Plan Analytics (primary focus initially, approx. 60-70%)

  • Analyze medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision claims data to identify trends, cost drivers, high-cost claimants, and utilization patterns
  • Build and maintain monthly and quarterly reporting on plan performance, including budget vs. actual, claims lag, IBNR, and stop-loss reimbursement tracking
  • Develop annual budget, renewal, and rate projections, including employee contribution strategies and COBRA rates
  • Evaluate stop-loss coverage, including specific and aggregate attachment points, contract terms, and lasering
  • Partner with brokers/consultants and manage day-to-day relationships with TPA, PBM, and stop-loss carriers, including performance guarantees and service issues
  • Support RFPs, vendor evaluations, and plan design modeling, including emerging strategies such as reference-based pricing, carve-outs, and PBM transparency models
  • Support compliance requirements for self-funded plans, including ACA, ERISA, Form 5500, MHPAEA, Transparency in Coverage, CAA/RxDC reporting, and nondiscrimination testing
  • Support open enrollment planning, communications, and post-enrollment analysis

Compensation and Total Rewards (growing focus, approx. 30-40% over time)

  • Conduct market pricing and job benchmarking using compensation survey data
  • Support job architecture, leveling, and salary range development and maintenance
  • Model and support annual merit, bonus, and incentive cycles
  • Perform pay equity and compression analyses and recommend corrective actions
  • Support compliance with California pay transparency, pay data reporting, and FLSA classification requirements
  • Contribute to total rewards statements and employee communications that clearly show the value of our programs

General

  • Present findings and recommendations to HR leadership, Finance, and executives in clear, concise terms
  • Partner with Finance on forecasting, accruals, and reporting related to benefits and compensation
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee claims, compensation, and other sensitive data
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting and processes

What you will bring to the role:

We’re looking for someone with strong technical acumen who thrives in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.

You might be a great fit if you:
