As part of Spectrum Safety Solutions (1,700 employees across 20+ countries), we protect people and assets in mission-critical environments across oil & gas, clean energy, marine, and infrastructure. Backed by Sentinel Capital Partners, we are investing in innovation and growth across our portfolio.

The Opportunity

As Sr. Systems Engineer, you will own system architecture and requirements, from definition through verification and validation, on new product development and sustaining projects. You will serve as technical lead and the go-to expert on product design and function, working with engineering, product management, manufacturing, service, and customers to shape our next generation of products and derivatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and manage requirements, with clear rationale, for multi-domain systems at the user, product, and engineering levels (software and hardware).
  • Define system architectures and document the supporting simulations and analyses.
  • Serve as technical lead, setting requirements and process direction for new and existing products across the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, concept generation, and architecture definition, translating concepts into system and subsystem designs that are reliable, safe, manufacturable, and sustainable.
  • Configure tools and processes that provide full traceability from requirements to verification and validation test cases, and work with the test team to confirm requirements are tested completely and accurately.
  • Lead and contribute to risk analyses, and develop and implement risk-mitigating solutions.
  • Define processes and metrics to track program progress, and report outcomes regularly.
  • Facilitate cross-functional technical discussions, provide technical guidance to project teams, and lead technical and design reviews.
  • Act as the technical point of contact on projects and ensure all functions comply with development procedures.
  • Support multiple product development programs concurrently.
  • Help evaluate technical talent.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in requirements management for electromechanical products.
  • Experience as the systems engineer on at least one project involving embedded software (firmware).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with a requirements and test case management tool such as DOORS, Jama, or Jira.
  • Experience with connected products and cybersecurity.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded microcontroller system design.
  • Experience in high-hazard or regulated environments, such as industrial life safety (e.g., SIL 2), hazardous-location certification (ATEX/IECEx, FM, UL), aerospace, or medical devices.
  • Ability to turn market needs, gathered from Product Management, Technical Support, Service, and customers, into clear technical requirements and system/subsystem architectures, and to communicate them to electrical, software/firmware, and mechanical engineers.
  • Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently, and driving continuous improvement in team processes and deliverables.
  • Experience across the full development lifecycle, from capture through design, implementation, and test.
  • Experience with FMEA, root cause analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Self-motivated, with a track record of leading process and requirements/test case efforts.
