Elevate your engineering prowess to unprecedented levels by joining a team of exceptionally gifted professionals and position yourself among the top echelon in site reliability.
As a Senior Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you work with your fellow stakeholders to define non-functional requirements (NFRs) and availability targets for the services in your application and product lines. You will ensure those NFRs are accounted for in your products’ design and test phases, that your service level indicators are effectively measuring customer experience, and that service level objectives are defined with stakeholders and implemented in production.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as the technical authority for Problem Management-led Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reviews across Major Incidents and significant service-impacting events.
- Leads deep-dive RCA challenge sessions, validating technical findings, contributing factors, causal relationships, and corrective actions through evidence-based analysis.
- Independently assesses the quality and accuracy of investigations, ensuring conclusions are technically sound, complete, defensible, and focused on long-term reliability outcomes.
- Drives a culture of blameless accountability by identifying systemic causes, resilience gaps, and opportunities to improve operational performance and engineering practices.
- Collaborates with engineering teams to evaluate observability, monitoring, telemetry, automation, and resilience capabilities and recommend reliability improvements for complex distributed systems.
- Validates that corrective actions address underlying causes and materially reduce the likelihood and impact of recurrence while driving closure and effectiveness reviews.
- Provides independent technical review and challenge of internal, vendor, and third-party investigation reports to ensure findings, recommendations, and risk assessments are comprehensive and actionable.
- Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate reliability design and operational decisioning (e.g., incident/post-incident analysis and requirements traceability), validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
- Defines and promotes reliability engineering practices including Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), reliability metrics, and operational resilience standards.
- Makes significant contributions to JPMorganChase's site reliability and operational excellence communities through mentoring, governance forums, knowledge sharing, and engineering leadership.
- Leads reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted reliability workflows across SDLC/toolchain practices (e.g., testing/validation automation and production readiness), ensuring traceability, auditability, resiliency, and security controls.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Production Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering.

- Advanced expertise across multiple technology domains including network, cloud, compute, middleware, database, storage, distributed systems, and enterprise monitoring platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with observability and reliability practices, including SLO/SLI engineering, telemetry design, distributed tracing, alerting strategies, reliability metrics, and AIOps capabilities.
- Deep understanding of Problem Management, RCA methodologies, systemic failure analysis, event correlation, resilience engineering, and operational risk reduction.
- Experience operating within highly regulated, mission-critical environments with a focus on availability, resilience, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to improve reliability engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Ability to set team practices for safe AI usage in operations (e.g., review/approval expectations and escalation paths) while maintaining resiliency, security, and auditability outcomes.
- Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, including the ability to challenge technical findings constructively and translate complex issues into executive-ready narratives.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers, drive reliability culture adoption, and lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
