Job Description:
Quevera is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Herndon, Virginia and Springfield, Virginia. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain secure cloud-native infrastructure supporting critical national security missions.
Working alongside a collaborative engineering team, you will architect scalable infrastructure, develop CI/CD pipelines, automate cloud deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and support modern microservices-based applications. You'll leverage AWS cloud technologies, container orchestration, and DevSecOps best practices to deliver secure, resilient, and highly available enterprise solutions.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to lead infrastructure initiatives, mentor fellow engineers, and contribute to innovative cloud-native solutions supporting mission-critical operations.
Work Schedule:
- Work Location: Split schedule between AWS Herndon (IAD21) and the customer site near Springfield, VA (approximately 50/50).
- Availability: Must be willing to work in a SCIF as required and participate in an on-call rotation supporting production environments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Architect secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions across AWS environments.
- Build, optimize, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting complex microservices architectures.
- Develop and maintain full-stack applications while ensuring operational excellence and system reliability.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions for production environments.
- Design and implement security-first infrastructure supporting compliance and mission requirements.
- Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon ECS.
- Implement cloud security controls, secrets management, and security automation solutions.
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and security documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, and deployment automation.
- Mentor team members on DevOps best practices, cloud-native technologies, and infrastructure automation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
- Current Springfield, VA customer eligibility.
- Active SBU, SECNet, and COE accounts.
- Five (5) or more years of professional software engineering experience with a significant DevOps focus.
- Five (5) or more years of experience developing Bash and Python scripts.
- Five (5) or more years of experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
- Five (5) or more years of experience with AWS services and cloud-native architecture patterns.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with AWS services including ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, SageMaker, RDS, and DynamoDB.
- Three (3) or more years of experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon ECS.
- Three (3) or more years of experience managing IAM policies, security groups, and network security.
- Three (3) or more years of experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and security documentation.
- Proven experience implementing NIST 800-53 security controls and FedRAMP compliance requirements.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with secrets management and security automation.
- Experience using DevSecOps and security scanning tools such as SonarQube and Snyk.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using CloudWatch, Prometheus, or similar tools.
Desired Skills:
- Three (3) or more years of experience supporting disaster recovery solutions.
- Two (2) or more years of experience developing enterprise applications using TypeScript, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Knowledge of container security and runtime protection.
- Experience with security compliance automation and continuous monitoring.
- Experience administering and optimizing databases including Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, and MongoDB.
- Experience designing and implementing serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, or similar technologies.
- Background in full-stack web development using React and Node.js.
- Experience leading technical initiatives in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Experience designing highly scalable and reliable systems.
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
