Position Summary
The Sr. Accountant is responsible for managing inventory accounting, cost accounting, Freight accrual, inventory reconciliations, transfer pricing entries, month-end and quarter-end close activities, physical inventory processes, and inventory-related financial reporting for U.S. and Mexico operations. The role ensures inventory balances, cost structures, and manufacturing transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies while maintaining strong internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:
Inventory Accounting & Month-End Close
- Prepare and record monthly and quarterly inventory-related journal entries.
- Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger.
- Perform inventory absorption, capitalization, scrap reserve, and inventory reserve calculations including E&O.
- Complete month-end inventory reporting packages and supporting schedules.
Cost Accounting
- Maintain standard costs and bill-of-material (BOM) structures.
- Execute annual standard cost rollups and cost updates.
- Analyze purchase price variances (PPV), inventory variances, and manufacturing cost drivers.
- Process inventory cost changes and inventory adjustments within Oracle ERP.
Inventory Reconciliations & Controls
- Reconcile third-party logistics (3PL) and warehouse inventory locations across multiple regions.
- Perform inventory account reconciliations in ARCS (ORACLE).
- Maintain inventory control procedures and ensure compliance with SOX/internal control requirements.
Intercompany & Transfer Pricing
- Record monthly Mexico transfer pricing entries.
- Prepare intercompany markup eliminations and inventory profit eliminations.
- Reconcile intercompany inventory balances and inventory-related transactions.
Manufacturing & Supply Chain Accounting
- Account for freight and duty capitalization along with freight accrual.
- Record inventory capitalization and absorption entries.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and inventory-related reserves.
- Support inventory movements between manufacturing, distribution, and third-party warehouse locations.
Physical Inventory Management
- Coordinate annual physical inventory counts across Americas locations and Investigate inventory count variances and recommend corrective actions

Qualifications - Knowledge & Experience
- 5+ years of inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of inventory costing methodologies, standard costing, and inventory controls.
- Experience with Oracle ERP, ARCS, FCCS, or comparable enterprise systems.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP inventory accounting and internal controls.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or supply-chain environments preferred.
Education, Licenses & Certification
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Costing or equivalent work experience
Work Conditions
- 4 days in office, optional Flex Fridays
- Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
- Sitting for extended periods of time; Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, etc.
