Role Summary

The Middleware Administrator (Kafka & RabbitMQ) is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing high-performance messaging and event-streaming platforms across cloud and on-premises environments. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of critical payment data pipelines that power real-time financial transactions globally. By optimizing middleware infrastructure and enabling seamless system integration, the role directly supports the stability and innovation of Volante’s cloud-native payments platform.

What You’ll Do

• Deploy, configure, and manage on-premises and cloud-native Kafka clusters to support scalable data streaming 

• Define and implement Kafka architecture standards and best practices to ensure consistency and reliability 

• Provide deep technical expertise across the Kafka ecosystem, including brokers, Zookeeper, Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, KSQL, REST Proxy, and Control Center 

• Ensure high performance, availability, and stability of Kafka platforms in high-volume environments 

• Design and manage Kafka Connect workflows with Schema Registry to enable efficient, large-scale data integration 

• Oversee Kafka platform operations, including provisioning, access control, and security configurations (Kerberos, SSL) 

What You Bring

Must-Haves

• 3–6+ years of IT experience with strong hands-on expertise in Kafka and RabbitMQ 

• Experience in Kafka cluster setup, administration, and support (on-prem and cloud) 

• Strong knowledge of Kafka ecosystem: Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Zookeeper, KSQL, REST Proxy 

• Experience with high-volume event streaming and distributed data pipelines 

• Hands-on with Kafka integrations (JMS, MQ, JDBC, Elasticsearch, file-based systems) 

• Strong understanding of messaging systems and protocols (Pub-Sub, JMS, AMQP, REST) 

• RabbitMQ administration experience including HA, clustering, exchanges, queues, and troubleshooting 

• Knowledge of security setups (SSL, Kerberos, access controls) and cloud environments (AWS MQ) 

• Experience in monitoring, performance tuning, and production support 

Nice-to-Haves 

• Linux/RHEL administration experience 

• Scripting knowledge (Python/Java) 

• Exposure to Docker, Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible 

• Kubernetes familiarity 

• Experience with streaming platforms like Kinesis or GCP Pub/Sub 

• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills
