Solutions Architect

About Weaver

Since 2006, Weaver has helped organizations build IT strategy and security so they can focus on their craft. We serve Education (K-12 and Higher Education), State and Local Government, Healthcare, and Commercial customers across the U.S. and internationally.

We do IT a different way. Our approach is simple: Right IT Solution. Right Time. Right Reason.

  • Right IT Solution. We recommend what the customer needs, and we never push products they don't.
  • Right Time. We are patient and deliberate. No pressure tactics.
  • Right Reason. Integrity comes first in every recommendation.

Position overview

The Solutions Architect I is a hybrid role. Part of your time is in the field with Account Executives and customers, learning their environment and designing the right solution. The rest is at your desk, building the configurations, quotes, and Scopes of Work behind that design, so the same person who understands the customer also delivers the proposal.

This is an entry point into pre-sales architecture. We are especially interested in implementation, delivery, or systems engineers who know how solutions are actually deployed and want to move closer to the customer and the sale. We will train you on the pre-sales side.

What you will do

In the field

  • Join Account Executives on discovery meetings, onsite and virtual, to understand customer goals, pain points, and current environment.
  • Lead requirements gathering using our qualification approach (MEDDIC). Training provided.
  • Conduct site walks and environment assessments to inform design.
  • Present proposed solutions to customer IT teams and leadership in clear, plain language.
  • Support product demonstrations and proofs of concept with senior team members.

At your desk

  • Design solutions and build your own configurations and bills of materials in vendor tools (Dell Technologies and other partners).
  • Prepare quotes and write Scopes of Work and level-of-effort estimates with our Services team.
  • Contribute technical content to proposals and RFP/RFI responses.
  • Keep opportunity status current in our shared tools (Monday, NetSuite, Teams).

Across the team

  • Act as the technical link between the customer, Sales, and Services from first meeting through handoff.
  • Bring delivery experience back to the team: flag risks, realistic timelines, and lessons learned.
  • Stay current on partner product updates (Dell Technologies, Microsoft, Ruckus, and others) and share what you learn.

What you bring

  • 3+ years hands-on in IT infrastructure as an implementation engineer, systems engineer, systems administrator, or consultant.
  • Solid working knowledge of at least two of: server, storage, data protection and backup, virtualization, networking, Microsoft 365 and cloud, or security.
  • An understanding of what it takes to deploy what gets sold.
  • Comfort working with customers and explaining technical options to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%, mostly within Texas.
  • Curiosity and a strong desire to learn the business side of technology decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

  • Dell Technologies, Microsoft, VMware, or Ruckus certifications.
  • Experience with K-12, Higher Education, State and Local Government, or Healthcare environments.
  • Any customer-facing experience: consulting, project delivery, or technical sales support.

How you will grow

  • Structured 30/90/180-day onboarding plan with clear milestones.
  • Paired with senior Solutions team members on live opportunities.
  • Support for vendor certifications in your focus areas.
  • A defined path to Solutions Architect II as you take on larger, more complex opportunities independently.

What success looks like

  • First 90 days: Shadow and co-lead discovery; build accurate configurations and quotes with review.
  • First 6 months: Lead discovery and design on mid-size opportunities; write Scopes of Work with light review.
  • First year: Own opportunities from first meeting through handoff, and be a trusted technical partner to your Account Executives.

Our core values guide how the Solutions team operates every day: Integrity, Commitment, High Performance, Teamwork, and Curiosity.
