At Pexip we foster and engineering centric culture built on collaboration, respect and a shared commitment to software quality. We believe great ideas come from diverse perspectives, and we're proud of our ethos of continuous improvement, test automation, and quality assurance.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our SaaS development team. Our team builds and maintains the calling platform that powers Pexip's cloud service. The platform is globally distributed, built on a microservice architecture, and we are responsible for its continued development and operation.
As a member of our team, you will work alongside engineers based in both Norway and the UK, sharing responsibility for the continuous development and improvement of our platform. This is not a remote role, although there is some flexibility to work from home when it is needed. You must have the right to work in Norway.
What you'll be doing:
- Helping drive our Kubernetes adoption, bringing practical experience from previous migrations to help the team build confidence and move quickly
- Shaping the architecture, tooling and operational practices that support our services in production
- Writing software at scale, considering performance, security and cost
- Participating in an on-call rotation to support the platform
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following:
- 5+ years as a Software Engineer
- Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Strong software engineering experience, with a track record of building and operating production services at scale
- Hands-on experience migrating services to Kubernetes, not just operating on an existing cluster
- Practical experience with cloud infrastructure: deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting distributed services in a cloud environment
- Strong understanding of computer networking
- A natural inclination to share knowledge and help others learn
- No specific programming language is required, though our platform is primarily written in Go. We care more about engineering fundamentals than existing language expertise.
And we'd love to see:
- Experience with Go
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with GitOps workflows and tools such as ArgoCD
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions
- Experience with Terraform
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus and Grafana
- Working knowledge of databases such as MySQL, Redis, or Cassandra
