About the RoleWe’re looking for software engineers who want to help build the future of engineering operations. You will spend a significant portion of your time writing code, building foundational systems, and solving complex technical challenges at scale. Working closely across product, data, and engineering, you will help design the context graph and operational data platform that power Faros, bringing together signals from across the software development lifecycle. You will also help pioneer a new generation of AI systems and agents that use this rich context to help engineering organizations build software more intelligently and effectively.

Education: Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, or equivalent real-world experience
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
AI Fluency: Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or equivalents), embeddings, vector stores, tool use, prompt design, and evaluation. Not just current tool mastery, but persistence, curiosity, and vision.
Proficiency in TypeScript + Node.js and/or Python
Experience designing/consuming REST/GraphQL APIs
Experience with building & productionizing web services, data pipelines, ETL/ELT, orchestration frameworks
Strong database fundamentals (SQL/NoSQL)
Our team meets in-person several days a week in San Mateo, CA.

What We Do
Faros provides a token-engineering platform for organizations using AI coding agents. It connects agents, harnesses, and engineering systems, linking sessions, commits, pull requests, and token usage into a live view of engineering work. The platform analyzes code history to identify effective model routes and context, then applies approved routing, budgets, and compliance policies. It also measures AI engineering outcomes and uses those results to improve subsequent routing decisions.
