Platform Science is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Orion (Fleet Management System) department in Chennai. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our cloud-native full-stack development efforts, designing and deploying robust, high-performance software for high-velocity fleet solutions. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work with an innovative mindset to solve complex problems and ensure the successful delivery of projects that impact the global transportation industry.

• Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Node.js, Vue.js, React.js, and TypeScript, ensuring maximum performance across a variety of web-capable devices.

• API & Backend Architecture: Create efficient internal and external APIs and develop optimized database schemas for both RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (ElasticSearch) environments.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Deploy and manage applications on AWS, leveraging Docker and Kubernetes to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.

• Quality Engineering: Write clean, modular, and testable code; conduct thorough unit, integration, and performance testing (using frameworks like Jest or Enzyme) to ensure software reliability.

• Collaborative Innovation: Partner with Product Managers and Architects to translate requirements into technical specifications while automating CI/CD pipelines alongside the DevOps team.

Required Experience

• 4+ years of professional experience in software development with a heavy focus on Node.js, Vue.js, and React.js.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern frontend build tools (e.g., Webpack).

• Solid understanding of Microservices architecture and event-driven design patterns (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud deployment methodologies.

• In-depth knowledge of database management (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, or ElasticSearch).

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience with React state management libraries (e.g., Redux).

• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Experience with Agile tools like Jira or Rally.

• Problem Solver: Exceptional debugging skills with the ability to navigate complex software systems and performance bottlenecks.

• Effective Communicator: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional, international team.

• Continuous Learner: A proactive mindset and a willingness to explore and adopt emerging cloud and microservices technologies.

• Detail-Oriented: A commitment to writing clean code and following software engineering best practices.
