WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager— the enterprise team that curates, governs, and serves Nike Direct and Marketplace data products to BI Experience teams and other GT domains. You will work within a team of engineers building backend APIs, ontology layers, and data pipelines that BI Experience teams consume directly. A Senior or Lead Engineer will support you with design and technical guidance. You will share your experience and technical expertise to help shape the longer-term strategic direction of our consumption and ontology layers.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about crafting great code and building high-quality backend and data services using best software engineering principles and standards.
A minimum of 3–5 years of backend software development experience.
Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline team environment.
Strong experience designing and implementing microservices, domain-driven design, and RESTful services using Java, Python, Scala, or Node.
Hands-on experience working in a distributed/cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Solid knowledge of common design patterns and clean architecture.
Working experience with data platforms — Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, or equivalent — and SQL at scale.
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
Test-driven development experience, including productive use of AI tools like GitHub Copilot.
Experience with distributed messaging — Kafka, SQS, or similar.
Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent experience.

You will contribute to high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant data services with strong governance, RLS, and quality guarantees baked in.
You will partner with product, analytics, and BI Experience teams to design schemas, contracts, and consumption patterns that scale across the enterprise.
You will write clean, well-tested, well-documented code, and remain current with industry trends in data platforms, APIs, and AI-assisted development.
You will help drive continuous improvement in performance, scalability, reliability, and observability of our consumption layers.
You will collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to provide technical expertise on architecture, code quality, and operational excellence.
