Position Overview
Are you a strategic, service-oriented leader with experience in software development, education, and technical team leadership?
BYU-Pathway Brasil, in collaboration with BYU-Pathway Worldwide, supports the delivery of BYU-Idaho's online Software Development program in Portuguese. The courses and curriculum are developed by BYU-Idaho, student services are provided by BYU-Pathway Worldwide, and BYU-Pathway Brasil hires and manages instructors and graders who teach in Portuguese or English.
This position plays a critical role in the quality and long-term success of the Software Development program offered by BYU-Idaho and supported by BYU-Pathway Worldwide and BYU-Pathway Brasil.
You will directly influence:
- The quality and preparation of online instructors
- The effectiveness of the curriculum and practical learning experiences.
- The development of students who are able to work in technical software development roles.
- The development of faithful learners, capable professionals, and future leaders.
Important Information
- This is currently a remote position based in Brazil.
- Candidates must reside in Brazil and be legally authorized to work in the country.
- A reliable internet connection is required, as well as availability to work across international time zones as needed to coordinate with partners based in the U.S.
- This is a full-time role and includes academic leadership, instructor coordination, and regular online teaching.
Position Summary
The Software Development Program Manager is responsible for supporting the quality and growth of the program through online instructor leadership, coordination of curriculum improvements, and regular teaching of software development courses. The role requires technical experience, academic leadership, bilingual communication, and a commitment to excellence in online teaching.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of Pathway Brasil online instructors who teach software development courses.
- Supervise instructors who teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses in the program.
- Coordinate curriculum feedback and support course improvements based on input from students, instructors, BYU-Idaho faculty, and BYU-Pathway Worldwide academic teams.
- Teach online courses in the Software Development program.
- Support quality assurance in teaching and learning for the courses under your responsibility.
- Mentor and develop instructors and graders by providing feedback, training, and ongoing support.
- Promote program growth by contributing to strategic conversations, long-term planning, and alignment with academic and professional standards.
- Perform other responsibilities as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. A bachelor's degree, together with other credentials, may be considered.
- At least five (5) years of professional experience in software development, software engineering, technology, or related fields.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Solid knowledge of software development principles and practices, including programming, problem-solving, engineering best practices, project work, and technical collaboration.
- Ability to lead, mentor, train, and evaluate online instructors.
- Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and results-follow-up skills.
- Commitment to excellence in online teaching and student-centered learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing and training teams, employees, instructors, and technical professionals.
- Experience in online teaching, higher education, technical mentoring, or course development.
- Professional or academic experience in web development, databases, software architecture, testing, version control, agile methodologies, or related topics.
- Experience working with international teams or in bilingual environments.
- Passion for student-centered teaching, continuous improvement, and developing technology talent.
Skills Required
