The Role
Architect and oversee scalable, real-time software platforms for engineering simulations and operational mobility tools. Define system architecture, module boundaries, APIs, data objects, execution models, and integration traceability. Lead platforms from prototype through production, write low-level requirements, establish development and testing standards, and support ML and GenAI implementations. Analyze timing, CPU, memory, and distributed-system performance while collaborating with technical teams throughout proof-of-concept, deployment, and optimization phases.

About The ePlane Company

The ePlane Company is at the forefront of India's urban air mobility revolution. Incubated at IIT Madras, we are a deep-tech startup dedicated to designing and building the world's most compact electric flying taxi. Our mission is to make door-to-door flying a reality, drastically reducing commute times and decongesting our cities for a cleaner, greener future. We're a passionate team of engineers, designers, and visionaries working on cutting-edge technology, and we're looking for brilliant minds to help us take flight.

Chart the Course for the Future of Flight

This role’s focus is on developing core software architecture for internal engineering tools and other tools that enable operations for the next generation of mobility while working on accelerating the development and deployment of novel engineering tools leveraging cutting edge hybrid of ML based tools in real-time situations. We are looking for an experienced Software Architect to provide the overarching technical vision, architectural design for our engineering simulation platform and operational suites. We want someone who understands the difference between a demo in a boardroom v/s a platform that works in the ground reality of multiple teams using different parts of the tool at the same time

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design the overall system architecture: module boundaries, shared data objects,, execution tiers, and the interface adapters that keep modules decoupled

  • Architect and oversee integration of all multi-module systems with traceability

  • Design the multi-timeline execution architectures for platforms as required

  • Define and freeze API contracts for the platform's external interfaces before downstream teams begin building against them

  • Scale the platform progressively from prototype to production-grade, with explicit validation gates at each stage

  • Write clear, verifiable, and precise low-level software requirements based on system-level specifications

  • Collaborating closely with collaborators to understand their technical requirements, proposing interfaces, and enabling them through proof-of-concept, deployment, and optimization phases.

  • Architect reference implementations for reliable, scalable, traceable involving ML and GenAI based systems

  • Establishing software development and testing standards

RequirementsRequired Qualifications
  • A track record of architecting systems that handle production and at enterprise-grade systems

  • Development of software systems that can deployed on the cloud or on premise

  • 2+ years ML engineering or engineering applications

  • Understanding of API contracts and frameworks

  • Proven understanding of fundamental data structures and the ability to apply them to solve complex problems.

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration systems like docker, kafka, kubernetes

  • Experience identifying and resolving systemic technical problems across multiple systems

  • Demonstrable experience architecting complex, real-time software systems from scratch.

  • Hands-on experience with timing analysis, CPU load measurement, memory load analysis, and code profiling across distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding and deployment of Reinforcement Learning based tools

  • Prior experience leading end to end through SDLC activities

  • Experience with distributed computing and performance optimization

BenefitsWhat We Offer
  • The opportunity to work on a groundbreaking product that will redefine urban transportation.

  • A dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative work environment with a brilliant and passionate team.

  • Competitive salary and benefits.

  • A culture of innovation where your ideas can directly impact the future of flight

Skills Required

  • Track record architecting production-grade, enterprise-scale systems
  • Experience developing software systems deployable on cloud or on-premise environments
  • At least 2 years of machine learning engineering or engineering applications experience
  • Understanding of API contracts and frameworks
  • Understanding of fundamental data structures and applying them to solve complex problems
  • Experience with Docker, Kafka, and Kubernetes containerization and orchestration systems
  • Experience identifying and resolving systemic technical problems across multiple systems
  • Demonstrable experience architecting complex, real-time software systems from scratch
  • Hands-on experience with timing analysis, CPU load measurement, memory load analysis, and code profiling across distributed systems
  • Understanding and deployment of reinforcement-learning-based tools
  • Experience leading end-to-end software development lifecycle activities
  • Experience with distributed computing and performance optimization
