The team:
Our team develops and maintains automated test systems used across product assembly and validation stages - from PCBA-level tests to functional and End-of-Line test stations. We work with internal test executive software, test stations, measurement equipment, global test-result databases, data visualization tools, and software drivers for laboratory and production equipment.
We are looking for a senior software engineer with strong Python expertise, working in the context of automated test systems and hardware validation.
The role:
As a Senior Test Systems Software Engineer, you will own the architecture, development and technical quality of a modern Python-based test framework used in hardware validation and production testing.
This role requires strong software-engineering expertise, proven experience developing production-grade automated test systems, and a practical understanding of measurement automation, instrumentation, hardware integration and product validation.
This is an individual-contributor role with significant technical ownership. Working with the Test Systems Team Lead to define system requirements, you will set technical direction, make architectural decisions, establish engineering standards and build robust, maintainable software that can evolve over time
You will be responsible for:
- Owning the architecture, design and development of a modern Python-based automated test framework, ensuring it is modular, scalable, testable and maintainable.
- Designing and implementing reusable framework capabilities for test execution, configuration management, hardware abstraction, logging, diagnostics, result handling, reporting and integration with test-result databases.
- Integrating test-station hardware and measurement equipment with the framework through reliable, well-defined interfaces and effective diagnostics.
- Designing and developing user interfaces for test configuration, execution, status monitoring, diagnostics and result presentation.
- Establishing and upholding software-engineering standards for architecture, code quality, automated testing, code reviews, documentation and maintainability.
- Collaborating with electronics, software, test and production teams to translate test-system requirements into robust software solutions.
- Taking end-to-end ownership of complex test-system software issues, from structured debugging and root-cause analysis through to implementing sustainable improvements.
Essential Criteria:
- 5+ years of commercial experience developing production-quality software in Python.
- Demonstrated ownership of, or significant contribution to, the architecture and technical evolution of production-grade software systems that interact with physical devices, equipment or products.
- Professional experience designing and developing user interfaces for technical or automated systems.
- Experience working in collaborative software-development environments, including Git-based workflows, code reviews and technical design discussions.
- Practical experience integrating software with relational databases, including SQL.
- Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions and communicate architectural trade-offs.
- Practical experience with automated software testing, CI/CD and automated quality checks.
- Strong written and spoken English.
Nice to have:
- Experience designing and implementing automated tests for electronic products in hardware validation or production environments, including PCBA-level and End-of-Line testing.
- Experience integrating test equipment and devices through hardware-abstraction layers and drivers, using interfaces and protocols such as SCPI, VISA, serial, TCP/IP, CAN, Modbus, SPI or I2C.
- Hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment and the ability to interpret PCB schematics.
- Experience designing and owning relational databases used for configuration management and test-result storage.
- Familiarity with Linux environments.
- Experience with NI TestStand or LabVIEW.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary
- 80% author’s rights tax relief (for employees working in Poland))
- For employees joining our office in Poland: MyBenefit system with Multisport membership, private healthcare (Medicover)
- Company Pension & Life Assurance Schemes
- On-site parking (car and bike)
- Wellness programmes
