Help Bring Obsolete Semiconductors Back to Life
At Phoenix Semiconductor Corporation (PSC), we're solving one of the industry's most challenging problems—replacing obsolete integrated circuits.
Our products are drop-in replacements that enable aerospace, defense, industrial, medical, and commercial systems to continue operating for decades. Every device we release must prove it performs like—or better than—the original.
This is an on-site position located in Austin, Texas. Remote work is not available. U.S. Citizenship is required.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Semiconductor Test Engineer to lead the validation and qualification of our products from concept through production release. If you enjoy solving difficult technical problems, building test strategies from the ground up, and working across engineering disciplines, we'd like to talk with you.

What You'll Own
As our senior test engineer, you'll define how every PSC product is validated before it reaches our customers.
You'll work closely with design engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain to develop qualification strategies, analyze performance data, and ensure every replacement device meets electrical, thermal, mechanical, and reliability requirements.
This is a highly visible role where you'll help establish the testing processes and standards that support the future growth of the company.
What You'll Do
Define Product Qualification Strategy
  • Develop comprehensive qualification and validation plans
  • Establish test coverage and pass/fail criteria
  • Correlate PSC devices against original components
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards
Lead Product Validation
  • Develop and execute ATE test programs
  • Oversee characterization, reliability, burn-in, ESD, latch-up, and environmental testing
  • Support hardware bring-up including load boards, sockets, and fixtures
  • Drive successful qualification of new product releases
Analyze Data & Solve Problems
  • Interpret characterization and reliability data
  • Perform statistical analysis and correlation studies
  • Lead root-cause investigations
  • Recommend corrective actions and design improvements
Partner Across the Company
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
  • Present qualification results and technical recommendations
  • Support customer technical reviews and qualification packages
  • Serve as the technical authority for product validation
Improve How We Work
  • Expand automated testing capabilities
  • Improve qualification methodologies
  • Develop documentation, procedures, and best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians
What We're Looking For
Required
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • US Citizen, must be able to obtain a US security clearance.
  • 7+ years of semiconductor test engineering experience
  • Experience developing semiconductor qualification strategies
  • Strong knowledge of ATE platforms (Teradyne, Advantest, or equivalent)
  • Experience with characterization, reliability, and production test
  • Familiarity with JEDEC, MIL-STD-883, AEC-Q100/Q101, or similar standards
  • Experience analyzing large data sets using Python, MATLAB, JMP, or similar tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication and technical documentation abilities
Nice to Have
  • Analog, mixed-signal, power management, or discrete semiconductor/PCB experience
  • Experience with replacement or second-source semiconductor products
  • Failure analysis experience (decap, SEM, curve tracing)
  • Test automation and scripting
  • Customer qualification support
  • Supply chain or component obsolescence experience
You'll Thrive Here If You
  • Enjoy building processes where none exist
  • Like solving complex engineering challenges
  • Can balance technical depth with practical execution
  • Communicate clearly with engineers and executives alike
  • Want your work to have immediate impact on company success
Why Phoenix Semiconductor?
You'll join a growing semiconductor startup where your work directly influences the products we ship—not one small piece of a much larger organization.
You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Build testing methodologies that become company standards
  • Work across the entire product lifecycle
  • Influence engineering decisions early in development
  • Collaborate with experienced semiconductor leaders
  • Help solve component obsolescence for industries where reliability matters most
Location
This position is based in Austin, Texas and requires regular work in our engineering lab. Occasional domestic travel may be required to support customers, suppliers, and qualification activities.
