You’ll lead the development of the backend system, architect scalable and reliable solutions, and ensure the platform evolves to meet growing demands. This is a full-time, fully remote position, paid in USD with competitive benefits. You’ll take ownership of backend development, lead technical decisions, and work closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and scale products used by thousands of users. • Own the backend: design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and backend systems using Ruby on Rails.
• Architect scalable solutions to handle growth, improve performance, and ensure reliability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver features end-to-end.
• Integrate with third-party APIs and external services where needed.
• Ship with confidence: write clean, testable code, perform thorough reviews, and monitor production systems.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues across services and infrastructure.
• Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, and best practices to elevate overall code quality.
• Mentor junior developers and collaborate with distributed teams across time zones.
Qualifications• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 4+ years of production-level Ruby on Rails experience.
• Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and background job processing (Sidekiq, Resque, or similar).
• Strong understanding of API design, RESTful services, and performance optimization.
• Comfortable with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Experience working on distributed teams and collaborating asynchronously.
• Excellent communication skills in English — written and verbal.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance speed and quality.
• Bonus: experience with Elixir, React, or other complementary technologies.
